Our planet is 4.560 million years old and was, for a very long time, lifeless. At PROMETHEUS we investigate the role that silica biomorphs and other self-organized mineral structures may have played as catalyzers of prebiotic chemistry: bit.ly/rezltz #EUfunded #ERCgrant

"2019 will be remembered as the year humanity captured the first-ever image of a black hole." Scientists supported by the 🇪🇺EU and the ERC contributed to the epic #RealBlackHole discovery.

Of all the scientific accomplishments in 2019, one in particular stands out: an image of a flaming ring of starlight surrounding a dark circle.
The historic effort to take a picture of a black hole was one of our most popular stories this year bit.ly/2Myy1Xm
