It was a true honor and a great pleasure to address members of our vibrant Zimbabwean Diaspora community here in New York last night! No matter the physical distance or where you live and work, you remain an integral part of the Zimbabwean family. Home is home. Your patriotism and unwavering commitment to your heritage is highly commendable. For years, you have supported families, built businesses, and sent home over USD 2.4 billion in annual remittances. But our engagement is evolving—we are moving from remittances to strategic investment, and from the movement of people to the movement of knowledge, technology, and capital. Yesterday, I shared an important message: Zimbabwe is no longer lamenting "brain drain"—we have successfully turned it into brain circulation. Whether you are a surgeon, an engineer, a professor, an ICT specialist, or a financier, you do not need to return permanently to make a lasting impact. Your skills, expertise, and global best practices are tremendous national assets. Under our national development agenda, NDS2 (2026-2030), my Administration recognizes the Diaspora as a vital strategic partner in achieving Vision 2030. We are actively simplifying bureaucracy, modernizing passport services, establishing Diaspora service centres, and ensuring your investments are securely facilitated and protected across agriculture, mining, renewable energy, the digital economy, and infrastructure. Let us continue working together to amplify Africa’s voice and demonstrate Zimbabwe's rightful place in global affairs—as shown by our historic election to a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027-2028. The more we work together, the more we prosper! Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatirwa, nevene vayo. Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe, ngabanikazi balo.

This momentous engagement was seamlessly arranged and coordinated by my Special Advisor on Investment and Empowerment, Dr. Paul Tungwarara. His dedication to driving economic diplomacy and bridging international partnerships continues to play a vital role in advancing our national vision. During our discussions, we finalized exciting plans for a massive new investment in premium hospitality, bringing world-class luxury hotels to our country. Today, I had the honor of virtually connecting with leaders, experts, and partners at the 8th Meeting of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Regional Committee for Africa, proudly hosted in our beautiful resort city of Victoria Falls, Mosi-oa-Tunya. Zimbabwe is humbled by the global community's confidence in our nation to host this pivotal summit. We remain deeply committed to advancing Africa's critical role in the global energy transition agenda. We commend Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and President Emmanuel Macron of France for their ongoing commitment to strengthening solar energy partnerships with Africa. Africa possesses some of the world’s richest natural endowments. Our solar resources must be viewed as vital instruments to industrialize, modernize, and scale up access to essential services in line with the African Union Agenda 2063. We must deploy greater leverage around regional and continental financing platforms, maximizing regional electricity markets and shared infrastructure. Our transition must be just, inclusive, and leave no one and no place behind. We bear a shared responsibility to empower our women and youth as central participants—whether as entrepreneurs, technicians, engineers, or investors. We must strengthen local capacity to manufacture, adapt, install, and maintain solar technologies. Initiatives like the Solar Technology Application Resource Centre (STAR-C) are welcome initiatives that will contribute to increased technical knowledge, training, and skills transfer to our young people. The International Solar Alliance provides us with an excellent framework to optimize our solar potential, secure our energy systems, and uplift our people. Together, let us harness the power of the sun to bring prosperity to Zimbabwe and the entire African continent!

ZANU PF is not a club of talkers; we demand meticulous thinkers and action. I have directed the Youth League to report on tangible economic and tax contributions. Let us reject division, embrace new technology, and drive Zimbabwe’s modernisation agenda forward in unity.

This morning, I inspected the vaults of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) to personally verify our national gold and ZiG reserves. I am delighted to report that our strategic initiatives to establish a gold-backed foundation for our economy are producing substantial outcomes. Following my directive two years ago to accumulate mineral royalties in physical form, our gold reserves have increased considerably. Presently, Zimbabwe proudly ranks 11th in Africa and 3rd in the SADC region for official gold reserves. These reserves are tangible assets that underpin our monetary sovereignty, rather than mere numbers. With over 4 metric tonnes of gold and foreign currency reserves, our ZiG currency remains fully backed and resilient to global economic shocks. As we progress toward our goal of 5 metric tonnes by year-end, we remain committed to fostering a stable, transparent, and prosperous economy for all Zimbabweans. Collectively, we are laying the groundwork for a robust future.
