A smart settlement that ordinary Zimbabweans cannot afford is not truly smart. The future of Zimbabwe will not be determined merely by the buildings we construct. It will be determined by the communities we create, the opportunities we generate, the knowledge we apply and the
For too long, housing has sometimes been conceived simply as the construction of houses. Yet a house does not exist in isolation. It exists within a neighbourhood, a community and an economic ecosystem.
A truly sustainable human settlement must provide more than shelter.
It must provide access to roads and public transport; reliable water and sanitation; energy; schools and health facilities; recreational and community spaces; markets; employment and entrepreneurial opportunities; digital connectivity;
I had the honour of delivering the keynote address at the Presidential Programme for Professionals Public Lecture at Lupane State University, where I called for a paradigm shift from housing provision to the development of integrated, productive and sustainable human settlements.
As Zimbabwe advances towards Vision 2030 and the delivery of one million housing units by 2030, I emphasised the need to integrate housing with agriculture, modern infrastructure, technological innovation and economic opportunities to build resilient communities that improve
Happy Birthday to Me. 🎂
Another year. Another measure. Another opportunity. Another trust from God to be a blessing to humanity.
I am grateful for the journey, the lessons, the grace, and the responsibility that comes with every new year of life.

1 million housing units by 2030 "cannot be achieved by Government alone" – @ProfPMavima at the #CIFOZ2026 Congress in Bulawayo. He urged joint ventures, ethics & quality over shortcuts, and a new National Building Code to replace the 1977 by-laws.

Today, I had the privilege of addressing the Construction Industry Federation of Zimbabwe (CIFOZ) Annual General Meeting and Congress in Bulawayo.
My address focused on the importance of building a construction industry that is innovative, professional, ethical and capable of
manufacturing, skills development and strategic partnerships while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and integrity.
The Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities carries a clear mandate: Sheltering the Nation.
Zimbabwe’s target of delivering 1 million homes by 2030 is a collective effort between Government and the private sector.
As a Ministry, our role is to create an enabling environment, facilitate partnerships and support the development of well-planned, resilient and sustainable communities.
Borrowdale Park demonstrates what can be achieved through effective public-private partnerships, combining housing, infrastructure, investment and economic opportunities.
Together, we can accelerate housing delivery and advance the Vision 2030 agenda.

It was a true honor and a great pleasure to address members of our vibrant Zimbabwean Diaspora community here in New York last night!
No matter the physical distance or where you live and work, you remain an integral part of the Zimbabwean family. Home is home.
Your patriotism and unwavering commitment to your heritage is highly commendable. For years, you have supported families, built businesses, and sent home over USD 2.4 billion in annual remittances. But our engagement is evolving—we are moving from remittances to strategic investment, and from the movement of people to the movement of knowledge, technology, and capital.
Yesterday, I shared an important message: Zimbabwe is no longer lamenting "brain drain"—we have successfully turned it into brain circulation. Whether you are a surgeon, an engineer, a professor, an ICT specialist, or a financier, you do not need to return permanently to make a lasting impact. Your skills, expertise, and global best practices are tremendous national assets.
Under our national development agenda, NDS2 (2026-2030), my Administration recognizes the Diaspora as a vital strategic partner in achieving Vision 2030. We are actively simplifying bureaucracy, modernizing passport services, establishing Diaspora service centres, and ensuring your investments are securely facilitated and protected across agriculture, mining, renewable energy, the digital economy, and infrastructure.
Let us continue working together to amplify Africa’s voice and demonstrate Zimbabwe's rightful place in global affairs—as shown by our historic election to a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027-2028.
The more we work together, the more we prosper!
