A warm THANK YOU to everyone who joined our #WPD24Chat today! 💜 Your insights and stories make a real difference in raising awareness for #PretermBirth. Let’s keep the conversation going as we approach #WorldPrematurityDay2024 on 17 Nov!
A5 – For the first time #PreemieConnect is hosting an event for our support group families. These are the families who are directly affected and receive services from our Organisation. We look forward to meeting everyone in person. #WPD24Chat #WorldPrematurityDay2024
Q5: #WorldPrematurityDay2024 on 17 Nov is fast approaching! How do you plan to get involved or raise awareness in your community this year? Whether it's through events, social media, or personal initiatives, we’d love to hear your plans! #WPD24Chat
A4:0 - Families face challenges of not having 100% access to their babies, they are not receiving enough emotional, physical or financial support. #WorldPrematurityDay2024 #WPD24Chat #PreemieConnect
Q4: The role of family is central in the care & development of preterm babies. What are the biggest challenges families face, and how can we provide better support for parents and caregivers of preterm infants? #WorldPrematurityDay2024 #WPD24Chat
A4:1 Families are often left with making the choice of taking their maternity leave when their child is in hospital or post discharge. #WPD24CHAT #PreemieConnect #WorldPrematurityDay2024
A4:2 Policies need to be re-visited when it comes to maternity leave and having a small, sick newborn. Emotional Support should be mandatory for every preemie family #WorldPrematurityDay2024 #WPD24Chat #PreemieConnect
A3 – They need to be supported better, physically, financially and especially emotionally. Many times in the #NICU the staff take on many different roles without receiving support themselves. #WPD24CHAT #PreemieConnect #WPD24chat
Q3: Healthcare professionals play a crucial role in the care of preterm babies. How can we better support & recognise the hard work of #NICU teams and other medical staff who work tirelessly to give preterm infants the best start in life? #WorldPrematurityDay2024 #WPD24Chat
A2 – There are amazing tools that have been developed that can be adapted to suite eachcountries unique needs. There should never be the excuse as to why babies born too small and too sick are not able to survive and thrive #WPD2024 #WPD24Chat #PreemieConnect
Q2: There are significant disparities in survival rates for preterm babies across different countries. What steps can be taken globally to improve access to quality healthcare for preterm infants in low-resource settings and beyond? #WorldPrematurityDay2024 #WPD24Chat
A1 – It means that every pre-term baby born should have access to the best health care whether they are born in LMIC’s or first World Countries. Equipment and specialized staff should readily be available and easily accessible. #WPD24Chat #PreemieConnect
Q1: #WorldPrematurityDay2024 highlights the need for “Access to quality care everywhere”. What does this mean to you, and how can we ensure every preterm baby receives the care they need, regardless of where, when, or how they are born? #WPD24Chat

September is #nicuawareness month. This month we would like to highlight the journeys of all our NICU families. Because no matter the duration, the NICU changes you forever #preemieconnect #nicubaby #nicumom #nicudad #nicuparents
We have been advocating for #ZeroSeparation and #KangarooMotherCare for years now. I was so surprised to find out that in other countries parents are being charged to do #kmc. This is illegal. KMC is proven to be cost-effective and life-saving.
