"I worry Mark Carney, because business lobby is going to pressure him that lobbying from them is going to cause him to make the same mistakes the previous governments have done, that he's going to see immigration as a solution for businesses. And that's a problem @mikalskuterud
So it looks like Canadians are once again being subjected to bovine fertilizer on mass immigration (as if the barrage ever really stopped). In our post on January 30, we warned: “PIC recognizes that Prime Minister Carney has slightly lifted his foot off the accelerator of Canada’s population growth but fears that he will push it down again when the various crises that Justin Trudeau’s mass immigration unleashed have abated a bit.” And that is exactly what seems to be happening now as Carney floats a “controlled increase” in Canada’s population (which the latest StatsCan updates indicate never actually stopped increasing). How remarkably similar Carney’s proposal is to the Century Initiative’s advocacy of using “responsible population growth” to reach a target of 100 million Canadians. We saw how that worked out – housing crisis, food bank crisis, homelessness crisis, affordability crisis, inflation, and maybe it even has something to do with the rising crime rate. ca.news.yahoo.com/carney-sug…

No one ever says, “I’m pro-life. That’s why I’m working to stop the ongoing mass extinction of amphibians.” Because most of those who use this label *don’t actually care* about 99.999% of “life.” They only care about the bits of meat with human DNA. Everything else can rot.

They always need more people for the rural sector and the army - the west has slowed down because using energy we’ve mechanised, using tractors and tanks, and we’ve put up the price of education and run out of space, but our political front for #Corporations always want immigrants – at Lismore, New South Wales

When wild creatures die out due to being pushed out by human population growth, they don't just gently disappear. Individual animals spend ages trying to survive. I wonder if people realise this when they are so blasé about humanity causing extinctions and defaunation.

Investors in the #population ponzi economy will try to tell you that an ageing population is best handled via a massive population injection of younger people, then when they age, they'll demand a bigger injection... such is the nature of a ponzi scheme.

The #Anthropocene (or the age of humans) is what scientists are calling this period in our Earth's history due to our heavy toll on the natural world around us. It's vital that people understand the impact we have.

Great! Yet, unless we protect habitats from impacts related to pop growth in developed & developing countries, loss of biodiversity will continue. For rich countries, CAN is a prime example where pop growth targeted is 2.1% for 2021-22, 86% is immigration. Yes, human supremacy.

Grateful to @BarnardPhoebe of @StablePlanetAll for laying out the 6 action areas we must individually & collectively act upon to fix the #ClimateCrisis. Stabilizing our populations is one of them thru women's education. Leaders take note! #COP26 #ForNature

In this article for @EcolCitizen, our Director @RobinMaynard55 discusses 'population shaming' - a tactic which aims to make the population issue taboo used by those who are unjustly critical of population concern. Have you encountered population shaming? ecologicalcitizen.net/pdfs/e…

Nearly every last candidate in Calgary's upcoming election is enthusiastic about cramming more consumers of nature into our city. Sprawl and densification both lessen housing affordability and our quality of life - and contribute to worldwide environmental degradation.
No surprise here. Canada - one of the highest emitters of C02 per capita & on a mission to grow its population by 1.2 million over the next 3 years - is giving no thought to the impact of such growth policies on biodiversity. #cdnpoli livescience.com/arctic-sea-i…

IS BIGGER BETTER?😟 ON pop projection is now upgraded from previously projected increase of 31.5 %, or almost 4,6 million above current pop to 35.8%, or almost 5.3 million, from an estimated 14.7 million on July 1, 2020 to over 20.0 million by July 1, 2046 ontario.ca/page/ontario-popu…
92% of Ontarians live in 9% of province. Southern ON, esp. GTA, already bursting at seams. It's also where most newcomers go. Not only are we devastating biodiversity with 2245 spp of plants and animals in trouble, but housing is also unaffordable. So why are we promoting growth?

Toronto media release says To’s rapid growth puts it in strong position. The NW shore of Lake ON is a massive urbanized zone. How big is To’s footprint beyond the sprawling GTA? How much farmland needed to feed To, how much energy imported? Can a city ever be big enough? #cdnpoli
Your opinion is exact reason why research as "How smart is smart growth?" finds "a lack of proof of environmental gains, in combination with a great inconsistency in the measurements of different SG attributes" & SG not based in concept of sustainability or ecological footprint.
