Sooo, I'll probably make the switch over to that Bsky/Azure Air/Cerulean Cloud/whatever place soon. Just for reference:

🌧️Widespread beneficial rain is expected tonight through Thursday with a low potential for thunderstorms over the Big Sur coast. Slick roadways and minor nuisance flooding are possible, and high rain rates over the burn scars may lead to debris flows. #CAwx

ALT Widespread beneficial rainfall is expected tonight through Thursday across the Bay Area and Central Coast. There is an image showing the total rainfall amounts. The Central Coast is expected to receive the highest amount of rainfall up to an inch to two inches. These rain amounts gradually decrease towards the North and East Bay where rain up to a tenth of an inch is expected. There is a low (less than 30%) chance for thunderstorm development over the Big Sur coast. The expected rain amounts may result in slick roadways, minor roadway flooding in poor drainage areas, as well as potential debris flows over wildfire burn scars. Stay tuned for the latest forecast updates!

It's not as pointy as Shasta or as explosive as Long Valley, but Medicine Lake is one of the most geologically diverse volcanoes in California!
While it keeps a (visually) low profile, Medicine Lake volcano covers around 2,200 square km (850 square miles) of northern California. Though shield-shaped, it's actually not a shield volcano like Hawai'i's Kilauea—eruptions there range in composition from massive basaltic flows to rhyolite domes and dacite tuffs. Its summit caldera formed not from a massive explosion, but from subsidence after repeated lava flow eruptions, which also built its rim higher! It's also a place of fire and ice: It's been covered by glaciers multiple times in its half-million-year history, but its lava flows have hundreds of lava tubes which carried molten rock as far as 30 kilometers (20+ miles) from erupting vents. Not to mention that some of those lava tubes now hold ice caves!

Really want to thank everyone for saying some nice things to me and reaching out to me. They're basically putting me in exile at work for shit that's really not anything. Moving my shift to start at 3 am. So if I'm not around much that will be will why.

I don’t think people understand that global warming doesn’t mean “no cold weather ever.” It means a warming planet destabilizes weather patterns, causing more extreme weather. This has been explained for decades and people still don’t get it.

In 1934, we added a gender-neutral pronoun for a single third person.
‘Thon’ was short for “that one.”
It didn’t catch on.
Yup. I've been to 40 countries, and I took my DSLR to most of them. Photos are the best souvenirs. I post photos on here sometimes, but I've got a backlog of at least 150,000 more shots that need sorting and editing. Getting that done is one of my long-term projects.
I've been once again reminded that I've lived long enough and survived so much that I've become the old mentor archtype. It feels so surreal, like I'm losing my relevancy. I don't want to be some secondary character that's doomed to die to advance someone else's story.

Honestly it takes so much effort to be interested in your own life after you've been taught whatever matters to you means absolutely nothing and is irrelevant.
