Sooo, I'll probably make the switch over to that Bsky/Azure Air/Cerulean Cloud/whatever place soon. Just for reference:

Historians widely consider him the first modder
Amir Timur found ordinary chess too easy, so he invented his own variant, “Great Chess” (شطرنج الكبير). It was played on a massive 10×11 board with 28 pieces per side, including camels, giraffes, elephants, and war engines, each with unique moves.

We don’t need AI, what we need is the ability to turn a PDF back into a word doc without the formatting looking like it survived a plane crash.

“With only six novels, Jane Austen is one of the most prolific authors of all time” Once again I am begging people to learn what words mean
All Of Jane Austen's Heroines, Ranked With only 6 novels, Jane Austen is one of the most prolific authors of all time, and she has a litany of wonderful heroines for fans to engage with. Read More: bit.ly/4yyWIH7
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Jane Austen wrote only six novels. Collins Dictionary defines a prolific writer as producing a large number of works, unlike authors with hundreds or thousands of books on typical lists of the most prolific. collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/eng… britannica.com/question/What-… cbr.com/jane-austen-he… tckpublishing.com/prolific-autho…

It's not as pointy as Shasta or as explosive as Long Valley, but Medicine Lake is one of the most geologically diverse volcanoes in California! While it keeps a (visually) low profile, Medicine Lake volcano covers around 2,200 square km (850 square miles) of northern California. Though shield-shaped, it's actually not a shield volcano like Hawai'i's Kilauea—eruptions there range in composition from massive basaltic flows to rhyolite domes and dacite tuffs. Its summit caldera formed not from a massive explosion, but from subsidence after repeated lava flow eruptions, which also built its rim higher! It's also a place of fire and ice: It's been covered by glaciers multiple times in its half-million-year history, but its lava flows have hundreds of lava tubes which carried molten rock as far as 30 kilometers (20+ miles) from erupting vents. Not to mention that some of those lava tubes now hold ice caves! 📷1: Looking out from Glass Mountain to the west, Medicine Lake and the Medicine Lake Highlands frame Mount Shasta in the distance. 📷2: The entrance to Skull Cave, a huge lava tube about 19 km (12 miles) north of the Medicine Lake caldera. 📷3: Glacier polish and scratches on andesite lavas of the north rim of the Medicine Lake caldera. Credit: J. Donnelly-Nolan, USGS California Volcano Observatory Weekly Update for October 19, 2026: All volcanoes in California were at normal background levels of activity for the last week. Earthquakes >M1 were observed at the Clear Lake Volcanic Field, Mono-Inyo Craters, Coso Volcanic Field, and Salton Buttes.

I don’t think people understand that global warming doesn’t mean “no cold weather ever.” It means a warming planet destabilizes weather patterns, causing more extreme weather. This has been explained for decades and people still don’t get it.

In 1934, we added a gender-neutral pronoun for a single third person. ‘Thon’ was short for “that one.” It didn’t catch on.

Yup. I've been to 40 countries, and I took my DSLR to most of them. Photos are the best souvenirs. I post photos on here sometimes, but I've got a backlog of at least 150,000 more shots that need sorting and editing. Getting that done is one of my long-term projects.
For fuck’s sake, take photos and videos when you travel or any prestigious moments. You don’t have to upload them. Do it for yourself, you idiot. Stop acting nonchalant. Years later, those memories will hit. Capture the damn moments before they become memories you can’t relive.

I've been once again reminded that I've lived long enough and survived so much that I've become the old mentor archtype. It feels so surreal, like I'm losing my relevancy. I don't want to be some secondary character that's doomed to die to advance someone else's story.

Honestly it takes so much effort to be interested in your own life after you've been taught whatever matters to you means absolutely nothing and is irrelevant.
i think we underestimate how much courage and healing it takes to become genuinely interested in your own life again after spending years just trying to get through it.

Dallol is an otherworldly place in Ethiopia’s Danakil Depression. It is one of the hottest places on Earth, with temperatures around 35–41°C all year. The area has bright green and yellow acidic pools with a pH close to zero, making it extremely harsh for life. 📹 visitethiopiaa
