After 3 years of work, I’m excited to introduce Renaissance Gears for the N64. What they are and how they perform, a 🧵.

@PointerFunction Yesterday I tried using Meguiars Ultimate Compound for 30 secs. + Meguiars Ultimate Polish also 30 secs. No success. So today I tried Meguiars PlastX and Ultimate Polish. Both 1 minute, 24 v, medium speed while spraying water every 5 seconds. It worked.

Had my first go with the ezBuff tonight. It took some getting used to. But, with just Meguiar's PlastiX, I was able to get this result on an OG Xbox cd. It did not have any real big/deep scratches. The largest scratch it had is the squiggly one you can see in the top of the 2nd pic.

Just gotta print out the rails and we'll be done. Assembly has been very easy considering all the mating parts. This really is an excellent design by @PointerFunction! I do have some notes that I'll send since you said you're looking for feedback.

Got all the big bits printed up today for @PointerFunction's RGR ezBuff (optical disc resurfacer / polisher). Waiting for parts to come in, but excited to get this build underway. So far, its coming along great. Very good design. You can tell a lot of thought went into it.

Check this out - @PointerFunction just released a full open-source disc buffer/resurfacer that can be made cheap and competes with expensive alternatives. Here's links, as well as an interview for more info:

chatting about this project has been very fun, i hope people are excited for it, i feel theirs a real need for it and it opens up a discussion around how exploitative current options are.
This design has been made freely available by
@PointerFunction and uses cheap USB-C charger modules for 18650 Lithium batteries... and a couple of other things 😊

Here's something different. A 4.7KB PlayStation demo created as something I could boot from a memory card via the FreePSXBoot exploit, which became a sizecoding experiment. Next time I'll try to figure out a way around the ginormous header. pouet.net/prod.php?which=105…
