Stopped by the new Cboe trading floor today, the last bastion of pure capitalism. #SPX
Trading $QQQ options is such a pleasure now compared to the old days of $30+ commissions and dollar-wide spreads.

What about the Chicago Board of Trade building? It is crowned with Ceres the Goddess of Grain. The interior is stunning.

Empty LaSalle Street at dawn. The Board of Trade standing tall over a quiet Chicago. These silent mornings hit different.

The old trading floor was called the Sala delle Grida because prices were shouted there. The last open outcry session was in 1994

My wife found this for my birthday. An original pin they were handing out on the CME floor during the day June 25, 1992, ahead of Globex going live that evening.
That first overnight did 1,893 contracts. Almost all Yen and Deutsche Marks. Now CME does around 30 million a day and trillions in notional.
She knew what it would mean.

Also LaSalle Street and the Board of Trade in Chicago
One of the things about floor language was, when bidding it was price then quantity. (I’ll pay half (ie .50) on 10.” When selling it was quantity then price (“100 at even (i.e .00”)
