Trumpin julistaman energiatulitauon jälkeen Venäjä on iskenyt 🇺🇦 energiasektoriin 76 kertaa.
Since the American President announced the energy ceasefire a week ago, Russia has deliberately attacked Ukraine’s energy and oil and gas sectors 76 times. Last night alone, there were strikes on substations in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions. Tens of thousands of families remain without power. Energy workers and repair crews are working virtually around the clock to restore electricity supply. Overnight, the Russians also struck residential buildings in our regions. As of now, 12 people have been reported injured, including two children. Two people have been killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. This morning, there was a strike on an agricultural enterprise in Volyn. All necessary services are working at the site. In total, over this past week, the Russians have attacked Ukraine with almost 2,700 attack drones, 1,700 aerial bombs, and 66 missiles, most of them ballistic. The main targets of these strikes are energy facilities – the Russians are trying to cause a blackout. And America should see that Russia is not taking any reciprocal steps in response to sanctions relief or agreements. On the contrary, they take every signal of an opportunity to make money as proof that their bet on war is paying off and they can keep fighting. It is because of this position of Russia’s that the war continues, not because Ukraine is rightfully defending itself. It is Russia that must face pressure for peace to have a chance. Thank you to everyone who understands this and helps. @ZelenskyyUa

Yesterday, the Russians carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities were targeted across different regions of Ukraine. Restoration work is ongoing, with all necessary services and all available resources of Ukrainian energy companies involved. I thank everyone working practically nonstop to restore power. The most difficult situation was in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn. Energy facilities in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, and other regions were also hit. The Russians have scaled up their anti-energy operation and are trying to stretch our reserves and repair capabilities as thin as possible. Between 7 p.m. yesterday and 7 a.m. today alone, more than 320 jet-powered and gasoline-powered “shaheds,” along with loitering munitions, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, were used against our energy sector, our cities, and our communities. And although our warriors are shooting down a significant number of them, the sheer scale and unrelenting pace of Russia’s strikes, specifically against our energy sector, are unfortunately having severe consequences. It is important that our European partners have already prepared new support packages for Ukraine. I am grateful to them for this. And it is important that everyone in America also sees what is really happening. At a time when the Russians have carried out such a massive attack on our energy sector, a decision was unfortunately made in America to completely disregard the Lindsey Graham Act, which was supposed to impose truly effective pressure on Russia to bring this war to an end. This Act could have helped enormously – and still can! But it needs to actually work, and every voice in support of it matters. Russia is trying to cause a blackout in Ukraine – right before winter. Russia is trying to leave millions of our people without electricity and heating. Pressure is needed to stop this. A U.S. sanctions blackout, easing pressure on the aggressor, financial rewards for Putin – all of this only encourages him to keep attacking. We must not give up ground. We must keep trying to end the war. To end it, not give Putin every reason to continue it indefinitely. I thank everyone who is truly fighting for peace and helping Ukraine!

Stalinin kerrotaan kysyneen ironisesti, kuinka monta divisioonaa paavilla on. Inspiroi puolalaisia. Ohjasi Solidaarisuus-liikeen rauhanomaiseen vastarintaan. JP II riisui 🇵🇱 diktatuurin aseista ilman yhtään divisioonaa. Sanan voimalla. Evankeliumin innoittamana. Yhtään ikkunaa ei särjetty. Siitä alkoi dominoefekti. Kommunismin romahdus. Uusi vapaus.
On this day in 1978, Karol Wojtyła was officially elected Pope John Paul II. Amid some of the Cold War’s most turbulent years, his visit to his native Poland inspired millions to stand firm in their faith, even in the face of oppression. Many historians view that visit as a spiritual spark that helped ignite the Solidarity movement, setting in motion events that would ultimately contribute to the fall of communism in Europe.

We appreciate President Trump’s concern for the victims of the war but in Poland we think that those Ukrainians were injured by drones, bombs and missiles launched by Vladimir Putin.
Trump: "I watched an interview of a young woman the other day from Ukraine. And she said, 'President Zelenskyy has destroyed our country. President Zelenskyy has taken our men away from us. Our men have no legs, no arms. Our men in many cases in mental institutions or they're dead.'"

Imagine 1941, when German aircraft were bombing British cities, Europe was under the Nazi boot, and Churchill was desperately trying to save his country from Hitler's onslaught. And then, at that very moment, US President Franklin Roosevelt suddenly announces that the main problem is not Hitler, who is occupying foreign territories and killing people, but the stubborn British, who simply refuse to agree to a peace deal. Worse still, they keep bombing German industrial facilities, damaging the economy of the Third Reich and creating difficulties for international trade. The American president is terribly outraged. After all, his voters need cheap fuel, the economy needs stability, and he himself needs good approval ratings. So instead of helping Britain, he calls Hitler, negotiates the supply of German goods, proposes easing economic restrictions, and threatens to cut Churchill off from weapons and intelligence unless he stops destroying German industry. And to finally persuade the Führer to come to the negotiating table, American mediators even propose returning some of Germany's frozen state assets. All in the name of peace, naturally. And, of course, for the sake of the American economy, which should not have to suffer simply because some stubborn British people refuse to surrender. Now try to imagine what history textbooks would look like if Roosevelt had actually behaved this way. What if he had called Hitler a wonderful negotiating partner, demanded that Churchill surrender territory, and simultaneously tried to convince Americans that Germany needed to be allowed to make money because otherwise it would refuse to make peace? What if, instead of Lend-Lease, Britain had received an American ultimatum: stop bombing German factories because we need to lower prices before the elections? What would we say about such a president today? Would we call him a brilliant negotiator who was simply protecting his country's economic interests? Or would we say that, for his own benefit, he was helping the Nazi war machine while simultaneously depriving its intended victims of the means to defend themselves? Fortunately, history took a different path. Roosevelt secured the passage of the Lend-Lease Act, and the United States began providing massive assistance to the countries resisting Hitler even before America formally entered World War II. But today, watching Donald Trump's actions, I increasingly find myself wondering what Europe's fate would have been if a politician with the same attitude toward aggression, human lives, and personal profit had occupied the White House back then.

Whether you’re woke or MAGA, Christian or atheist, red or blue, surely everyone can agree that the leader of the free world responding to the horrific death of a vulnerable young man in a tiger enclosure by sharing footage of his terrible fate, and then posting an AI-generated version of the encounter portraying himself as capable of surviving it, is sick, deranged and profoundly disturbing. Whatever that AI video was supposed to demonstrate, it was an appalling display of narcissism and a complete absence of basic human decency. And it shames America. It shames the country’s reputation, and it shames the people who put this man in the White House. This isn’t about being left-wing or right-wing. Millions of Americans voted for Trump because they are conservatives, because they believe in family values, personal responsibility and freedom. Yet their president routinely behaves in ways that make a mockery of those very values. I’m a Brit watching from afar, and I’m not interested in any whataboutery. There’s plenty about my own country and its political leaders that I find deeply shameful. But I genuinely cannot think of a British leader in my lifetime who has displayed quite such a grotesque combination of infantility, offensiveness and narcissism as the current president of the United States. This isn’t strength. It isn’t humour. It isn’t owning the liberals. It’s the behaviour of a man who appears incapable of recognising that the suffering and death of another human being should not be turned into an opportunity for self-glorification. It’s utterly shameful. The sooner Donald Trump leaves the political stage, the better. And I sincerely hope the midterms mark the beginning of that process.
Donald Trump has shared an AI video in which he wrestles the tiger that killed William Chapman, a British man, at a South Yorkshire zoo. On Tuesday night, the US president also shared the actual footage of the attack on Truth Social, showing the moments before Chapman was mauled to death. 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2026…

🇮🇹🇺🇦 WOW! WHAT A SPEECH! WHAT POWERFUL WORDS FROM ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER GIORGIA MELONI! Here is the full five-minute excerpt of her speech devoted to Ukraine and Donald Trump. “Russia has launched a new autumn campaign against Ukraine. Unable to advance on the battlefield, Moscow has increasingly turned its attacks against civilians: power plants, residential buildings, hospitals, and even buses carrying people to work, as in the horrific massacre in Kramatorsk. This is a strategy through which Russia seeks to subjugate Ukraine with terror, cold, and darkness, simply because it has failed to conquer it on the battlefield. The facts contradict Kremlin propaganda and those who spread it here. Since the beginning of the year, Russia has captured very little territory, and in September it lost much of what it had previously seized. This halt did not happen by chance. It was achieved through Ukraine’s courage and Western support, including that of Italy. This resistance is the only effective instrument for bringing Russia to the negotiating table. I respect and understand the passionate debate on this issue, including within this chamber, because nobody here wants war. We all want peace. The difference lies in how we intend to achieve it. As I see it, supporting Ukraine is not an alternative to peace. It is what makes peace possible. Because if an aggressor expects its opponent to surrender, why would it negotiate? Surrender is not peace. It is conquest. If Ukraine stopped defending itself tomorrow, as many suggest, we would not have peace. We would be discussing the occupation of a European nation and the return of Soviet imperialism. Personally, I do not miss those times. I do not miss Russian tanks crushing uprisings in Prague and Budapest. I do not miss the Berlin Wall. And nobody will ever convince me that the surrender of those defending their freedom can be called ‘peace.’ The peace we want, and the peace we are working toward, even at the cost of concessions, is a just peace, because only a just peace can endure. Only a just peace can protect Europe and our interests. That is why our government's position remains unchanged: support for Ukraine, with particular attention to civilians, pressure on Moscow, and Euro-Atlantic unity remain the pillars of our actions. In this context, we must address Donald Trump's diesel agreement with Russia. This is a decision I consider extremely risky. Of course, we all recognize the need to contain fuel prices, which place a heavy burden on families, including Italian families. But we must understand that rising prices are primarily linked to the war in Iran, not Ukraine. Legitimizing Moscow, whose bombs continue to fall on Ukrainian cities, providing new revenues to finance the war, and weakening sanctions are all factors we cannot ignore. And they contradict everything Western nations, including the United States, have done to force Putin to the negotiating table. An energy ceasefire is a different matter, one that Italy supports, and we are grateful to President Zelenskyy for Ukraine's immediate willingness to agree to it. Now we expect Russia to stop attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Finally, at such a difficult moment, when so many variables are beyond our control, there is at least one thing that depends on us: We must ensure that Europe does not simply stand by and watch, because the terms of peace will affect our continent and our security.” — Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy

Pope Leo XIV underwent thoracic surgery at Gemelli Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, as planned, according to a statement from Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora released by the Holy See Press Office. The surgeons removed the lower lobe of the Pope’s right lung, and tissue examined during the operation confirmed the diagnosis of “lung adenocarcinoma,” as suspected from tests conducted beforehand. The Pope was in the operating room approximately three hours, while the operation itself lasted about 90 minutes. The doctors said it was successful and there were no complications. Pope Leo awoke normally after surgery and, following a brief period of observation, returned to his room on the hospital’s 10th floor, according to the statement. vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/…

“We are thinking about where to bury them all — the Ukrainians!” This chilling statement, made live on Russian television by Vladimir Putin’s chief propagandist, Vladimir Solovyov, was quoted by Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Andriy Melnyk, during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on October 9, 2026. According to Ambassador Melnyk, this barbaric declaration exposes Putin’s true objective: “the ultimate extermination of the Ukrainian nation.” Melnyk drew a disturbing historical parallel with Nazi Germany, warning that Putin’s publicly proclaimed objective bears an ominous resemblance to the so-called “Final Solution to the Jewish Question” (Endlösung) — the euphemism Hitler’s regime used for its plan to systematically exterminate the Jewish people. Ukraine’s ambassador quoted Solovyov’s statement: “To those still remaining in Kyiv, I repeat for the hundredth time: leave the city. You are doomed. The same applies to the residents of Odesa and Mykolaiv. You've had your laughs — now it's over. And when we are asked whether we should be concerned about the fate of the people living in these cities, my answer is yes, we should. We are thinking about where to bury them all.” Melnyk continued: “The Russians are thinking about where to bury us — Ukrainians. Every single one of us. Just consider these bloodcurdling threats.” The ambassador stressed that these were not literary metaphors or rhetorical exaggerations. “We are hearing absolutely explicit, savage calls for the mass extermination of all Ukrainians, with proposals to bury their bodies — or perhaps even burn them.” Melnyk also reminded Security Council members that senior Russian officials have repeatedly described Ukrainians as “cancerous tumors,” “rabid dogs,” “cockroaches,” “lice,” and “parasites” that Russia must “disinfect.” He then cited another horrifying statement attributed to Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s former president and current deputy chairman of its Security Council: “They — the Ukrainians — must be destroyed. That's all.” These statements, Melnyk argued, reveal the true nature of Russia’s war against Ukraine. This is not merely about territory. It is about the existence of the Ukrainian nation itself. One can only hope that those members of the UN Security Council who still naively believe Putin simply wants the remaining territory of Donetsk Oblast — and that peace will somehow follow — have finally begun to understand what Ukraine is facing. When Russian officials and propagandists openly discuss the destruction of an entire nation, the world cannot afford to dismiss their words as empty rhetoric. 🇺🇦
