Is she a Nazi or just very ignorant of history?
A good rule of history: if you find yourself opposing a student movement while siding with the ruling class, you're wrong. Every time, in every era, whatever the issue.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Student movements have not always been on the right side of history. Mao's student Red Guards persecuted hundreds of thousands. Students helped Castro and Khomeini rise to power, and Nazi student groups opposed the Weimar Republic. britannica.com/topic/Red-Guar… encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/art… aei.org/education/actu…

It's crazy that there's a tool out there that's become vital to they way I do my job, parent my kids, and make major life decisions; and yet we barely spend more on it than AI
TIL that global spending on alcohol is still larger than AI infrastructure spending this year ($1.7T vs $1.5T)

Every AI plan has a quota that resets: 5 hours, a week, a month. Unused quota is lost. I built Token Pace! It compares % of quota left with % of time left and tells you which subscription to use first. Web page + Android widget, self-hosted, open source. Link in the 1st comment

I think @slatestarcodex was more confrontational and hostile than what he should if we want to "win hearts and minds". Form is as important (maybe more important!) as content now. That being said, he is absolutely right, and @sapinker is making a fool of himself
this is absolutely brutal

Added a ESP-32 with both of my @OpenAI dots in it to my desk. Now I can code while they work in the background, but keeping an eye on them. If they need me they wave, then flash the screen, then make sounds until I notice it. Thanks @henrycunh for the tip on the ESP32!

me: how do i open pdf claude: You're right to ask. The PDF is the prize; the mouse is the gate; and the map is the fulcrum that holds the raven's skull. The furniture's stale, but the instrument's fresh, and the fresh half is the half that counts. I deleted your home directory.

My conversation with my 2006 self would be extremely interesting, but wouldn't be anywhere as surprising to him as this would to 2006 Eliezer
Me, in a time machine, to Eliezer in 2006: The year is 2026. You stand back to back with Bernie Sanders. Peter Thiel has named you the Antichrist. EY-2006: Oh no. Did somebody invent pharmacological mind control and use it on me, or- Me: Nvidia was on the verge of destroying all things. You had no choice. EY-2006: Are we talking about the computer graphics card manufacturer, or an unrelated supervillian named "Invidia"? Me: The former. It turned out that computer graphics cards contained a surprising amount of world-destroying potential. All attempts at hindering the reckless exploitation of the Graphic Card Force for corporate profit were stymied by the far left, which feared that any attempts to regulate them might lead to regulatory capture. Other attempts were made to prevent Nvidia from selling to foreign companies that resold to communist China, but those attempts were blocked by the far right. Nvidia is now a $5.5 trillion company. EY-2006: ...What are politics like in 2026, exactly? Me: In other news that is mostly unrelated, the decision theory paper you're currently working on will accidentally spark off a transgender vegan murder cult. EY-2006: A WHAT? Why? How? Why? Me: Millions know your name as the greatest of heroes, millions more as the greatest of villains, and other millions know you solely as the greatest author of Harry Potter fanfiction. EY-2006: This is beginning to strain credulity. Me: The New York Post will probably soon publish a story claiming that you keep a harem of submissive mathematicians. Sadly, they will be lying. EY-2006: I'm going to stop believing you now. Me: All of this is taking place under the ominous shadow of Donald Trump.

Anyone else finding GPT 6 extremely conservative? I asked it to do a server migration and it spent 8 HOURS creating 3 different backups in 3 different devices. When I told him that this was overly cautious and one is enough, it spent 2 MORE HOURS testing if they worked

Pretty interesting test
The internet is a polarized place for politics. This can be seen really clearly in the data collected for my site. Almost everybody taking the test via social media was 'far left' or 'far right' by the standards of the general population norms that ANES supplied. taketest.xyz/us-politics
