Pi Pocket 0.19 is out! Extensions get way more room: panels, status items, and buttons in the top bar, by the message box and under answers. Plus Interrupt, subagents in peek tiles, and faster streaming. Thanks to everyone who sent PRs! github.com/TannerMidd/pi-poc…

We found DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 beats GPT 6 Sol on our multi-step offensive cybersecurity task. Sol was tested via the Daybreak trusted access program. We have been building a cybersecurity benchmark based on simulated corporate networks. This is a valuable indicator for the cyber-risk a model poses if in the hands of a bad actor. We plan to make the full evaluation public in the coming weeks but wanted to share our first immediate finding here.

really cool project benchmarking CPU overhead for pi-like coding agents michaelkinsy.github.io/buffo… octet is *very* fast, and there's a lot of room for improvement :)

Within the hour/day going forward :) We're already prepped for whatever the next release is. I have a porter running 24/7 to move along side main of upstream pi committing and porting to a 'next' branch so when a new pi release comes we already have the code ported. 🐷

Thank you, and piglets always generate separate binaries from core pig. So you won’t risk breaking core pig and so rolling back is as easy as running a different pig command. This even applies when building piglets from another piglet. The parent piglet remains and the new piglet is a separate binary that can be extended and used separately.

Introducing SKY-001, the first Engineering World Model. On CAD and BIM tasks, it beats GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model we tested: -> 51-125x faster - > 150-210x cheaper -> Higher IOU than all frontier models SKY-001 lets you dream a physical object before you build it. 18 months of work. Built by the team out of Maluuba's deep learning lab (acq. by @MSRResearch). The first ‘AI General Engineer’ will be the backbone for Autonomous Manufacturing.

Yes exactly this, the overhead on node startup and IPC vs go threads is what changes this drastically.

PiG is MIT licensed, and it is free forever. Here just for the love of the game and going ham. Big thanks to the @pidotdev team for building the thing we get to follow, to Pi-Bolt for its open benchmark suite that showed us our slowest paths, to durable-bench, and to everyone who contributes their work to open source. 🐷

Some numbers from Buffon (michaelkinsy.github.io/buffo…) which is the repository I made to benchmark harnesses related to Pi use cases. All the numbers are CPU milliseconds on the same machine, and lower is better. The command pig --version takes 5 ms in PiG. In Pi on Node, the same command takes 282 ms. One prompt with tools takes 29 ms in PiG and 518 ms in Pi. Streaming a long answer in the TUI took 2,451 ms in PiG 0.4.1. In 0.5.0, it takes 403 ms. PiG also loses in some places. Pi-Bolt is a little ahead on interactive start and on resuming a long session. TypeScript extensions add a fixed startup cost, because PiG starts a separate Node host for them. With 10 TypeScript extensions, one prompt takes 934 ms in PiG, 676 ms in Pi and 109 ms in Pi-Bolt. If you port your extensions to Go, most of that cost goes away. In our own run (not buffon), the same 10 extensions as a Go Piglet took 67 ms in print mode, which is less than Pi-Bolt's 109 ms. In RPC mode the Go Piglet took 521 ms and Pi-Bolt took 194 ms, so Pi-Bolt is still ahead there. The Go and TypeScript extensions were checked to behave the same, and the run is labelled provisional. Scripts and raw data are in go-ext-comparison.tar.gz. You can rerun the buffon numbers yourself 🐷
