Meet PiG: @pidotdev, rebuilt in Go as one native binary.
Live multi-language extensions, derivative harnesses (Piglets), and everything Pi just in Go.
More at pi-in-go.dev
We found DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 beats GPT 6 Sol on our multi-step offensive cybersecurity task. Sol was tested via the Daybreak trusted access program.
We have been building a cybersecurity benchmark based on simulated corporate networks. This is a valuable indicator for the cyber-risk a model poses if in the hands of a bad actor. We plan to make the full evaluation public in the coming weeks but wanted to share our first immediate finding here.

really cool project benchmarking CPU overhead for pi-like coding agents michaelkinsy.github.io/buffo…
octet is *very* fast, and there's a lot of room for improvement :)

Introducing SKY-001, the first Engineering World Model.
On CAD and BIM tasks, it beats GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model we tested:
-> 51-125x faster
- > 150-210x cheaper
-> Higher IOU than all frontier models
SKY-001 lets you dream a physical object before you build it.
18 months of work. Built by the team out of Maluuba's deep learning lab (acq. by @MSRResearch).
The first ‘AI General Engineer’ will be the backbone for Autonomous Manufacturing.

Cheers!
I also ported my Pi package into native Go 😄

🚨 PiG 0.5.0 is out 🐷
This release took a while, and I am very happy with it. Version 0.5.0 covers all of Pi's interfaces on Pi 1.3.0. Out performs PiG 0.4.1 in every measurement. Piglets can now change PiG itself and you choose how lean PiG is.

Some numbers from Buffon (michaelkinsy.github.io/buffo…) which is the repository I made to benchmark harnesses related to Pi use cases. All the numbers are CPU milliseconds on the same machine, and lower is better.
The command pig --version takes 5 ms in PiG. In Pi on Node, the same command takes 282 ms. One prompt with tools takes 29 ms in PiG and 518 ms in Pi. Streaming a long answer in the TUI took 2,451 ms in PiG 0.4.1. In 0.5.0, it takes 403 ms.
PiG also loses in some places. Pi-Bolt is a little ahead on interactive start and on resuming a long session. TypeScript extensions add a fixed startup cost, because PiG starts a separate Node host for them. With 10 TypeScript extensions, one prompt takes 934 ms in PiG, 676 ms in Pi and 109 ms in Pi-Bolt.
If you port your extensions to Go, most of that cost goes away. In our own run (not buffon), the same 10 extensions as a Go Piglet took 67 ms in print mode, which is less than Pi-Bolt's 109 ms. In RPC mode the Go Piglet took 521 ms and Pi-Bolt took 194 ms, so Pi-Bolt is still ahead there. The Go and TypeScript extensions were checked to behave the same, and the run is labelled provisional. Scripts and raw data are in go-ext-comparison.tar.gz.
You can rerun the buffon numbers yourself 🐷
PiG is MIT licensed, and it is free forever. Here just for the love of the game and going ham.
Big thanks to the @pidotdev team for building the thing we get to follow, to Pi-Bolt for its open benchmark suite that showed us our slowest paths, to durable-bench, and to everyone who contributes their work to open source. 🐷

If your codebase is structured like 💩, an agent will smear and replicate everywhere—all the bad patterns.
So it's always a good idea to lean into the latent space every now and then and use its computational ability to choose better names, module structure, file names, and directory structure than a human can do on their own.
I call this a janitorial Roomba task. Something like this is a great fit for a skill and can run as a background cron job or a GitHub Actions job off your trunk branch.

Loom, aka Kittens, is now called Overalls. I'll be releasing it at @ainativedev in New York circa Nov 3.
It's a self-hosted AI developer platform that runs on your own infrastructure and is released under the MIT license.

Imagine the people shaping how we build with agents, in one room.
Steve Yegge closes day one. Geoffrey Huntley talks verification. @bookingcom, @awscloud and @MistralAI share how their teams build now.
52 sessions, 700+ devs. London sold out.

🔒 Before you replace a lock, profile it and find where the contention really is.
In @alextrending benchmark, 98.78% of the delay showed up at sync.(*Mutex).Unlock, because waiters add the delay and Unlock gets the stack.

Bad news can travel through five layers of management and arrive at the top as great news.
Nobody had to lie.
Nobody had to conspire.
Everyone simply did what seemed most reasonable for their own career. And perhaps that's the most disturbing part.
I wrote about a problem many engineering organizations know all too well, but few are willing to recognize in themselves.

I recorded a short video of how the game I build with my boys also can teach you programming along the way. Also embeds a pi-durable agent straight in browser to be a teacher.
