I think this is something special: A rare document of an artist at work 117 years ago! I have enhanced for you this wonderful autochrome by photographer Antonin Personnaz, which captures the moment when the French impressionist painter Armand Guillaumin painted his oil-on-canvas work 'Bathers in Crozant', way back in 1907.
It was photographed in colour and isn't colourised. (in the comments I'll tweet the actual painting he is creating)

It is the 200th anniversary of the death of Lord Byron: author of the most readable long poem and the greatest letters in the English language.
Of course Maggie Throup is on there. 🙄
REVEALED: 18 Tory MPs have written to Environment Secretary @SteveBarclay urging him to gut @NaturalEngland’s powers to create nature reserves (SSSIs)
This latest #AttackOnNature must not succeed

Here are two lovely, enhanced autochromes focusing on the theme of poppies (though both predate the Great War). These were taken around 1910 in Champigneulles, Belle Fontaine, France, by photographer Julien Gérardin. They are original colour from 114 years ago and not colourised.
Got a ticket to see the Laura Purcell talk. 😄😄😄😄
Very excited for our Saturday night double-header, with @spookypurcell and Andrew Michael Hurley joining us to wrap up our busiest day of events! ticketsource.co.uk/ukghostst…

An Irish tale tells of Murdoch’s Rath, a place surrounded by gorse where fairies danced. If good-hearted folk joined their revelry their pockets were filled with gorse flowers that transformed into gold, but the greedy were chased away through the prickly furze! #FairytaleTuesday

I know all the talk recently is about men’s obsession with the Roman Empire but have you tried asking the women in your life how often they think about Anne Boleyn?
I get quite a few Goldfinches in my garden so this as lovely to read. A charm of Goldfinches.

‘Daffodowndilly’
She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour
“Winter is dead.”

The sound that once sent a shiver down the Roman legionary's spine! The bellow of a reconstructed carnyx - a war trumpet used by Iron Age Celts, Gauls, and Germans to incite troops to battle and instil terror in the enemy.
