Just a month to go before the @TankMuseum's ‘The Tanks Have Done Marvels’ seminar on Saturday 21 November. Looking forward to seeing everyone and hearing from the speakers. For more information, head to tankmuseum.org/Tank110 #WW1
Tuesday Tank: Back to this year's #Tankfest at the @TankMuseum and the big reveal of Challenger 3. Here it is heading around the arena in convoy with a British Army Challenger 2 and the museum's Challenger 1. @Burntime0101 @milmodelscene @USAS_WW1 @agbdrilling #TankTuesday
I left battleships, cruisers and destroyers behind with this #WW2 memoir from a wireless operator on motor gun boats in the North Sea & the Aegean, 1943-45. Very interesting to hear how the small boats operated, plus accounts of battles off East Anglia & among the Greek islands.
Tuesday Tank: here's Chieftain 'Ruff 'n' Ready' pausing for a moment on one of the mounds at Operation Market Harborough - not one of my best photos there and not the shot I was aiming for, but captures the fun of the day! @Burntime0101 @milmodelscene @USAS_WW1 #TankTuesday
Tuesday Tank: This Panzer III replica was at the recent We Have Ways Fest. It's based on an FV432 APC and here's a walkaround so you can have a closer look, even a glimpse inside! @Burntime0101 @milmodelscene @USAS_WW1 @thebattleguide #TankTuesday @WeHaveWaysPod #WHWF6 #WHWF2026
Tuesday Tank: more tanks from the recent We Have Ways Fest - Valentine DD, Charioteer, Pz III replica (based on FV432) and Sherman. #WW2 @Burntime0101 @milmodelscene @USAS_WW1 @agbdrilling #WHWF6 #WHWF2026 #TankTuesday @WeHaveWaysPod
Just read Raymond Dannreuther’s history of Force H, 1940-42. He was a midshipman on the destroyer ‘Laforey’ and the battleship ‘Malaya’ in Force H. Incidents include the attack on the French fleet at Oran, sinking of the Bismarck, Malta convoys and the loss of ‘Ark Royal’. #WW2
Snap! (Well nearly) I was at the Malvern Autumn Show yesterday and came across this Ransomes MG 40 tractor, built in 1963. A couple of weeks earlier, at We Have Ways Fest, I saw an earlier model used by the military in #WW2 for towing a small trailer.
Visited Wightwick Manor nr Wolverhampton, a late-Victorian house built by the Mander family, who made their money making paints. On display were the #WW1 & #WW2 war memorials for Mander Co. employees, incl Capt H.A.N. Mander, Lincs Regt, killed in Holland in WW2. @WarMemorials
