This is why we should be helping students develop AI literacy. Thomas has just graduated from @UniKent and this was his final year project 👏
Any employer would be lucky to have him

That’s a great point. I could see offering extra credit for trying them and reflecting on how it felt. Or assigning students to try it on a light, silly or pop culture topic? It might be easier to practice speaking aloud this way than with a human audience, though still hard.

If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by the thought of speaking to your students about #AI, guess what? You’re not alone.
Here are my thoughts on how we can speak to students about it

Great message from David Boud at today's #DigiEduWebinars, 'students learn from doing tasks', this shifts the emphasis to process and learning from formative feedback rather than focussing only on summative marks on the product.

Of 14 AI detection tools, none worked well enough to warrant use in education. It’s a preprint so read with caution, but in my opinion it’s still some of the best evidence we have on the effectiveness of these tools.
Is AI detection a hoax? Co-author on new preprint testing 14 systems with a gold standard document set. None work well enough for use in educational settings arxiv.org/abs/2306.15666 Presenting at #ECEIA2023 today
