This Ontario Agriculture Week, Ontario Greens extend a heartfelt thank you to the farmers across the province who provide our local food and contribute over $50B to Ontario's economy.
We'll continue to stand up for farmers, support local food, and protect farmland from being paved over.

The Ford govt demanded secrecy for its funding of the @RegionWaterloo's Wilmot farmland assembly. The lack of transparency is typical of this govt & the people of Ontario deserve better. Agri critic @john_vanthofĀ & I are requesting a value-for-money audit by the auditor general.
Just some food for thought as our province is making easy access to alcohol a bigger priority than keeping hospital ERs open.
In Canada, #AlcoholHarm costs us more than harms from any other substance use.

The Mayor of @WilmotTownship promised to "be a strong voice" for our community during the election. We want to hear that voice speaking up for our farms and farmland.
Mayor, you say you haven't received many messages against this project...
...these are just a small group of the many who are taking up the chant of unwilling host.
@WilmotTownship Mayor Salonen, You are our Regional representative. Use your voice.

TODAY!! Come #StandWithFarmers in #Wilmot and beyond.
Farmland is a finite resource. Bulldozing forests in Northern Ontario doesn't replace the #319AcresPerDay lost nor does the data reflect the acres being dug up for aggregate.
Numbers don't lie, but they can be manipulated.
Join the #FarmersProtest Monday, Aug 26th at 5:30 in #WilmotTownship and stand up for our food producing #Farmland!
Show our governments that you care about local food and #NoFarmlandNoFood
