Police are investigating after a man was seen in an area with a large Jewish population wearing a t-shirt threatening Jews. The man, who was photographed out shopping in North London while wearing the t-shirt, has not yet been identified. The words on the t-shirt, “Khaybar Khaybar yaa Yahud”, are the beginning of the notorious Arabic battle cry that begins: “Jews, remember the Battle of Khaybar”, and continues “The army of Mohammed is returning”. It refers to the massacre and expulsion of the Jews of Khaybar in 628 CE and is plainly a battle cry against Jews. CAA was contacted by a Jewish man who was shopping at Sainsbury’s with his children and called the police. @metpoliceuk told CAA: “Around 15:35 on Friday, 14th August, officers received a report that a man had been seen in a supermarket in Williamson Road, Haringey wearing a t-shirt with an alleged antisemitic wording on. “The wording was not in English and while officers who initially spoke to the complainant a short time later were able to obtain a translation, they were understandably not aware of its meaning and historical context. Following subsequent discussions with officers with expertise in this area, the report has been recorded as a potential racially aggravated public order offence. Officers have been in contact with the victim and enquiries to identify the person involved are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this stage.” This disgusting intimidation must be met with the full force of the law. This kind of incitement and hatred has been becoming more and more brazen to the extent that it is now casually displayed in everyday public settings.
