The next area of low pressure moves through between late tonight and late Saturday, bringing rain (mostly) to Newfoundland and snow (mostly) to Labrador. #nlwx There will be some snow on the front end of this in the Long Range Mountains tonight, before a flip to rain, and parts of southeast Labrador will likely see a mix of both, especially along the coast. This will also bring some wind, with gusts between 70 and 100 km/h across a large area of the Island. More on that later. Meteorologist Eddie Sheerr | October 16, 2026

Lloyd Axworthy on Trump blaming Canada for midterm loss: "As we know, he doesn't deal in reality. He's built to promote lies. And in this case, I think he will be looking for people to point to as the fall guys. And Canada is being set up as a logical source of all that."

Former U.S. Ambassador to Canada: "He wants to be Mr. Tough Guy. But why doesn't he stand up to Vladimir Putin? He is Putin's poodle. If somebody were to tell me that Russia is our friend and Canada's our enemy, I would say the Manchurian candidate is in the White House."

Becoming a grandmother this year has been life altering. Watching my daughter and her hubby parent together warms my heart. I love that they're not sharing her images on social media. A wise move in my opinion.

When we women take a bold step outside the norms, like becoming a mechanic at age 17, (a proud moment), we realize we can try other non-traditional things. We never walk back thruthat door. Another reason to find a supportive network. We needed support outside the workplace too.
Every girl in Nova Scotia deserves the chance to dream big and reach her full potential. On International Day of the Girl Child, we celebrate the strong, talented young women across our province who are shaping our future. By investing in better opportunities, healthcare, and education, we are building a Nova Scotia where every girl can succeed right here at home. To all the future leaders, thinkers, and doers keep reaching high. We are behind you all the way.
