Dependabot pull requests are easy to review one at a time ... and tedious to review by the dozen. Build a GitHub Copilot app automation that does the first pass for you. Once it reviews open Dependabot pull requests, groups them by risk, verifies CI status, it'll provide a short summary. You write the instructions in plain language, so you can shape the automation to match how your team works. Schedule it before your workday starts and the results are ready when you log in. Try it out 👇 github.blog/ai-and-ml/github…

GitHub just put the Copilot agent permission layer under ENTERPRISE control. Admins can govern: - Shell commands - File reads - File edits - Network domains Each operation can be blocked, require fresh human approval, or run without a prompt. And the user cannot bypass the policy with auto-approval, saved approvals, workspace settings, or YOLO mode. GA in the Copilot app, CLI, and VS Code Agent Host. Block credential folders. Require approval for git push. Allow approved tests. Agent governance just moved into the execution layer. This is the move. github.blog/changelog/2026-0…

Microsoft is just one beneficiary of 250 years of American history and the choices made by past generations. As an American company, we believe we have a responsibility to understand where we have been, learn from it, and help make real for others the opportunities created for us.  As America enters its 251st year, we face another inflection point shaped by rapid technological change. That is why we created this series. Throughout July, we will reflect on moments in American history with six video episodes when people faced uncertainty and made choices that set in motion consequences they could not fully see. Some decisions advanced the country. Others revealed how much work remained. Together, they remind us that history is not inevitable; it is made by people, in moments, through choices. Our goal is not simply to celebrate that history, but to learn and connect the past to the questions we face today. Because one of the best ways to honor 250 years of American history is to think seriously about what we will do next. Stay tuned for episode 2 next week. aka.ms/America250 @Microsoft

It’s time to move from renting intelligence to truly controlling your AI. Microsoft Frontier Tuning lets you take our models and make them uniquely your own, turning them from capable generalists to completely custom partners. It starts with reinforcement learning environments (RLEs) that allow our models to learn directly from your workflows. Think of them as training gyms for AI. Here the agent learns your very specific processes, your standards, your way of working. It goes from off-the-shelf to hyper-adapted to exactly what you and your teams need. Those adaptations drive efficiency and performance, and your unique models can keep continually learning in your RLEs. This changes the nature of AI – and it changes the impact. For example, within Microsoft we use our RLEs combined with our MAI models to climb towards the best agentic use cases for Excel. Our MAI tuned model is on par with GPT-5.4 on public and private benchmarks, while being up to 10X more efficient. Only you control your agents made with Frontier Tuning. You keep the benefits of your hard-earned know-how, data and institutional knowledge. With us, the RLEs and the models you build in them become your moat. This is distinct. It’s a new era. An era of AI that you control, on your terms. I think it’ll be a good one. More on the blog: microsoft.ai/news/building-a…

The new GitHub Copilot app opened up to public preview today, and if you explore around the home view, you'll find an Octocat easter egg mini game that I snuck in. I had so much fun noodling on details, and thought I'd share some nerdy deets of what it took to set it up 🤓 🧵...
