Really sad news. His brief, haunting appearance in MYSTERIOUS SKIN is one of the most powerful elements in an already wonderful movie. The best kind of character actor, leaving an unforgettable impression in a whole range of movies.

Four @edfilmfest titles in the mix on the Maverick Longlist at @BIFA_film. Congrats to the film teams behind SUNLIGHT, MISPER, PERIL AT PINCER POINT and SNAPSHOT, all truly maverick indie films. screendaily.com/news/masc-we…
This.
One of my biggest pet peeves at film festivals is audiences audibly sighing or complaining when a film opens with a long list of production companies. If anyone should understand how difficult it is to get independent films made, it’s a festival audience. Show some awareness #LFF

Fjord — I wish I watched it with someone because it’s the most open for discussion film I’ve seen at #LFF. I’m impressed a film with such a touchy subject, dealt in such a way, this politically divisive, won the Palme. Cinema as strongly opinionated art, presenting two sides of an argument equally, prevails. And I gotta applaud that. I get why it has rubbed so many the wrong way but I was enthralled and I admire it for going against the typical grain.

Honestly still don’t think enough is made of this basically being Scottish. The biggest entertainment release of all time - bigger than any film or TV series - and it all started above a chippy in Dundee and still largely comes out of Edinburgh. Mental.

Cannot wait to see this!
With its mono-tints, theatricality, emotional ambition, lyricism and massive metaphor, #Whalefall reminded me at times of silent cinema - except that its sound design is very 21st C.
Not just about hard v soft masculinity.
Loved it.
One of the best films @PicEntFilms ever released. Such a great movie.
