Hey @BluumOrg, in thinking through the challenges inherent in scaling, I do mention (hypothetical--don't want to spotlight any schools without their OK!) charters in Idaho and the impacts multi-state #replication and scale can have.
Wise words from my man @colleston! And elevating his kudos to @joshcowenMI for identifying artificial impediments to implementing policies that kid-centered people can reasonably and respectfully disagree.
My daily (occasional multiple times daily) Trenta Starbucks iced tea, no water, three Stevia, light ice, would seem to provide compelling evidence that this treatment doesn't work.

Robert Pondiscio (@rpondiscio) joined the early discussion. My essay asks how communities choose a charter network and what expansion asks of the original school. @charteralliance #CharterSchools Read: earnedandlearned.substack.co… Earlier X post: xitter.cf/PatrickJGavin/status/2…
If you can replicate a successful school, can you replicate the organization that made it successful?
Not necessarily.
Why charter networks look so different, and why that matters.

Interesting points. TLDR: it’s real but it may be misnamed as it isn’t as much about attention as what I’d summarize as executive function. #neuroscience #psychology #edpolicy #educationpolicy

The @BostonGlobe editorial board has a message for @MassGovernor: opt Massachusetts in to the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit. Doing so could keep hundreds of millions of education dollars in the state, with room to steer them toward public schools. bit.ly/3VCZbmi

ALT Graphic on a navy background with “Opinion | The Boston Globe” at the top. The center reads in large italic text: “‘Take the money, governor.’ — The Boston Globe Editorial Board.” Below, a line reads: “Massachusetts has until Jan. 1 to opt in to the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit (FSTC).” The Democrats for Education Reform name and DFER.org appear in the top right corner, and a faded DFER logo sits in the bottom left.
The timing raises a real question: how can Indianapolis build trust in a shared system while renegotiating the agreements schools rely on? With the referendum approaching, clarity about costs, services, and continuity seems especially important.

In Indiana, property taxes are used to fund buildings & transportation. Charters don’t share in the levy until 2028 & it won’t phase in until 2031.
In the meantime, IPS wants to keep all property taxes AND charge its own innovation schools out of money meant for the classroom.
Today's announcement by IPS that the administration has decided to terminate all innovation school contracts is deeply disappointing & immediately creates uncertainty for 11,000 students and their families.
