Male fashion never existed. There was one uniform they all wore, with slight variations. It could change depending on the era or what your work was. But you never spent cognitive energy thinking about what to wear. Usually the male uniform made you look good in public and was climate appropriate. The last uniform we had was the suit. The top matched the bottom and could make any body type look ok. Now that the system of one male uniform has collapsed, most men gravitate to comfort. 90 percent of men think of comfort, 10 percent become dandies who obsess over clothes. until the male uniform comes back, this is where we will be.

Adam’s law of slow moving disasters

Dario has written that we need to “pace the frontier,” and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead. You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric — market share, revenue growth, model capability — the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. You’ve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement. I don’t see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible. But stop pretending you need anyone else’s permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropic’s investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who aren’t even at the frontier. Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want. Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sanders’ “shut it all down.” China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well. So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it. If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psyop.

He hasn’t been the AI czar since early April iirc. He was a “special government” employee that had a weird limit. Wish they made it more permanent.

I did a thread asking teachers how students show up and the replies were unreal. Stuff like kids can’t even hold a pencil.
Almost every promise of modern technology has delivered the opposite result - Social networking made historically less social - Unlimited information made people much stupider - Technology use during childhood has made children less advanced

Wives with cash flow jobs while husbands have to start their own businesses, due to the anti-white discrimination, is a pattern showing up often these days.
My business collapsed in 2020, and we didn't qualify for PPP. I started looking for marketing jobs and got nowhere despite an incredible portfolio and a decade of experience. A recruiter who placed creative talent told me the truth. He said in no uncertain terms that I would need to change my name, start completely over, start “showing solidarity with the underprivileged.” Even then, it would be nearly impossible for me to be placed in a marketing role because of my identity. I realized at that point that there was no reason for me to hold back anymore. The ships were burned already. It's build or rot. I started saying whatever the fuck I wanted to online after that. What was the point of anonymity? And I'm not the only one. My brother is in the same place despite having written and directed a feature-length film that had a 1m box-office theatrical release. Both of my brothers-in-law hit a ceiling in their finance and healthcare roles. All future promotions would be going to more diverse candidates. Now both of them take care of the kids while they build real estate side hustles part-time. Their wives are the main breadwinners. I know an MBA ops guy with 20 years of experience who is stocking shelves at Walmart. I know an engineer who's built and launched apps for Fortune 500 companies and has been driving Uber for the last 5 years. And everyone around you, without fail, even your family, tells you to stop playing the victim card. No blackpilling. And yeah, that's true. You have to take responsibility for what's under your control. But the gaslighting needs to stop.
