I never thought I'd agree with a Lux player but yeah Relivia said what I said even better.
(Jk I was also a Lux player xdd)
I guess I just disagree with a lot of people on the RC changes today.
I REALLY like that they've all but killed any incentive to not try and win the event. This is not an RQ, this is the qualification to find the 24 best players in the world to compete on the world stage. We should want RCs to be the best players all trying to win and not have 20% of the event being an Ahri cabal. There were real possibilities people ended day 1 at 6-0 and played only 1-2 real matches of riftbound that day.
I do agree this was way too late to announce this but better late than never. I like that they found a way for the RC to stay competitive focused and still have ridiculously good prizing.
Please don't change RQ prizing, chasing best ofs is great for 2k+ person open events.
the game's current competitive offering (RCs) is not good at all and would have been surely been changed down the line.
I'm personally glad they're changing it now so that RCs will start or a similar footing and with a structure better aligned with its goals but I get that it
I fully understand player frustration with the timing of the Riftbound RC prizing change annoucement and the feels bad for (RQ Style) Best Ofs shifting to the same time window as the RQ season but this change was very much needed IMO.

Wrote up some answers to some common questions I'm seeing, I realize this won't hit everything but hopefully it helps!

Potentially really unhinged FaB take here as someone who is very bias and loves Prism but I actually think that OG Luminaris would be a reasonable downshift for SAGE and might help check some of the format LOL
I say this knowing this weapon has done more crime than R Thorn 😅
Feeling romantic about Magic: the Gathering might actually try and register Bloodbraid Elf in a Legacy league just to feel something.
I went into the article expecting to be mad there's no changes but actually feel pretty good now LOL
Feels like it's time for me to play some Legacy again!
Ban list update is out. No changes, except for competitive brawl magic.wizards.com/en/news/an…
I have no context for this but like, do people really not see these as two different jobs? (I don't think OP is saying so FWIW)
Yes there's sometimes overlap, more now than ever as commentators try and leverage another revenue avenue for their careers but they're clearly diffy?
Commentating or casting is not a "reward" for being a content creator. It is a high pressure public facing job, requiring the ability to communicate with a huge amount of people live, while balancing the needs of stakeholders involved. People who are selected to do this always have my full support.
Being part of the community is not necessarily a requirement, but being able to do your job and tick all the boxes is. If your end goal of being a content creator is for the rewards that you might get, then I would say it's probably better to use your time for something else.
