If I had to link to a “one-stop-shop” of information — with study abstracts and links — this’d be it.
Very handy resource-rundown for those who have tried hard to ignore and forget the emergence of a new, major wrinkle in our reality in 2020. 🦠

A marketing executive’s perspective on masculinity.
“Just one word from someone who grew up in the 1970s: what is strange to me is that the people who embody the manosphere in 2026 would have looked massively gay in 1976.
This, to me, always puts a dent in the idea that there is a constant, evolved, and unchanging masculine ideal.” — Rory Sutherland

Women believe that their attraction, or lack of it, to a man is a deep and insightful measure of his essential quality and character, rather than just an accidental combination of circumstances, viewpoint, and alignment with the social matrix.
Therefore it is a complete waste of time to ask a woman what a man should do to be attractive.
She cannot conceive of a man becoming more attractive by doing something on purpose to be attractive. If a man tries to do so, she thinks he is "faking" the inherent behavior of men who are "really" and "naturally" attractive.
They think he is a fraud. And they will have meltdowns about this idea.
They do not understand that the basic nature of man is becoming, not being.
Women create the species. A tribe with 100 women and 5 men will be fine if they can make it to the next generation without starving or being killed. A tribe with 100 men and 5 women is dead.
Women have inherent value.
Since women understand men far less than men understand women, women think men work like this, too. They think attractive men are inherently attractive, have always been attractive, will always be attractive, and that the reverse is true as well.
This is why women are so angry and vicious in divorces. If you are unattractive to her now, then you must be inherently unattractive, and were unattractive all along. Which means you fooled and defrauded her, and your entire relationship was based on a lie.
She thinks you raped her by pretending to be attractive, and fooling her into consenting.
A woman can't tell you how to be attractive, even if she is self-aware enough to know what she likes (rare), because she is simply unable to accept (or sometimes even to understand) the idea that a man can become attractive if he isn't.
If you ask a woman what you should do to be attractive, she will tell you instead what she wants an attractive man to do.
Yup, men have devoted zero thought and have never tried out different approaches to getting laid
The idea of "bring her flowers" was just never tested
All the PUAs writing about how to get women? Never mind that - give her a firm handshake and a bouquet of roses
Women are hilariously deluded about what works on women
Her thought process is simply this - "I wish a man who I was really into would buy me flowers - I wouldn't judge him a simp and lose all attraction because I'm super attracted in my imagination to this man and it's nice that he brought me flowers"
This is the same phenomenon as romance novels - the male characters that these women lust after do all kinds of things that women would find off-putting if a real man did it because when reading a romance novel *women have infinitely more information about the male character and don't just have to imagine things about him*
In the real world, women are sizing up men based on snippets of information and are then drawing wild conclusions. As a man your job in dating is to (a) avoid getting her to draw some insane negative conclusion and (b) to get her interested and attracted - to draw some insane positive conclusion. Women do not really know they're doing this - whatever they conclude is due to their "intuition" which is simply never wrong
Giving her flowers does not help, this is tested
This is why men don't bring women flowers, this is why women can't understand the explanation

A lot of people with ADHD say: "I can not stop doomscrolling first thing in the morning".
But let's not forget that circadian dysregulation is a key component of ADHD pathophysiology.
In fact individuals with ADHD frequently have mutations or altered expressions of core peripheral clock genes such as BMAL1 and PER2.
BMAL1 binds to CLOCK to activate thousands of downstream "clock-controlled genes" that dictate your physical baseline across a 24-hour window whether that's called when your liver processes glucose or when your muscles take up nutrients.
A disrupted BMAL1 cycle directly destabilizes your baseline dopamine and reward processing because it directly influences gene expression in the ventral striatum (the brain's primary reward and motivation center).
So you will seek out high-stimulation activities simply to feel awake and focused.
Now while BMAL1 acts as the accelerator to power up daily systems, PER2 acts as part of the braking mechanism.
As the day progresses, PER2 proteins steadily accumulate in your cells.
Once they reach peak levels late at night, they physically move into the cell nucleus to bind to and temporarily turn off BMAL1.
PER2 also regulates sensorimotor gating (your ability to filter out redundant or irrelevant environmental stimuli), which explains why people with ADHD frequently experience severe sensory overload.
This also explains (partly) the irritability component in ADHD.
-Morning (BMAL1 deficiency): Irritability from under-arousal.
Your engines won't start.
-Evening (PER2 dysregulation): Irritability from overstimulation.
Your brakes and filters have failed.
Now a Zeitgeber is any external, environmental cue that aligns your internal biological clock to the Earth's 24-hour cycle.
The primary ones are:
-Light
Light is the most powerful zeitgeber in existence.
When photons hit your eyes, they interact with specialized cells called intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs).
These cells bypass your visual cortex entirely and travel down the retinohypothalamic tract directly to the master clock in your brain, the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN).
Getting bright light (ideally 10,000 lux) early in the morning tells the SCN to trigger the rapid breakdown of accumulated PER2 proteins.
This acts as a biological "reset button," starting your daily 24-hour clock and signaling BMAL1 to begin increasing morning cortisol and dopamine.
-Eating
Eating food acts as a massive metabolic time cue.
When you eat, insulin and other metabolic hormones spike, which directly upregulates BMAL1 and resets clock-gene expressions in your liver, gut, and fat tissue.
So skipping breakfast and having a massive dinner, it's not a great idea if you have ADHD (some people self medicate with fasting + black coffee + nicotine but we've explained why this isn't ideal in previous posts)
-Activity
Highly intense physical activity late at night raises your core body temperature and spikes cortisol, completely overriding the evening drop in temperature required for PER2 to signal bedtime.
-Vitamin D
Vitamin D has a regulatory influence on core circadian clock genes, specifically facilitating the balanced oscillation of BMAL1 and PER2
P.S: Supplements/peptides that might help:
-NMN + TMG
The central molecular clock relies heavily on an enzyme called NAMPT, which fluctuates on a cycle and produces NAD+.
When NAD+ levels are high, they activate the enzyme SIRT1.
SIRT1 deacetylates the clock repressor PER2, which increases its stability and nuclear transport, while simultaneously boosting BMAL1 binding to DNA
-Berberine has been shown to explicitly stimulate the up-regulation and activation of BMAL1.
-Resveratrol plays a restorative role, helping to rescue and normalize flatlined or desynchronized amplitudes of CLOCK, BMAL1, and PER2 when they have been blunted by inflammation or high-fat metabolic stress.
-Melatonin.
Targeted melatonin therapy corrects the attenuated peripheral clock-gene rhythms (BMAL1/PER2) seen in individuals with delayed sleep phases
-VIP
VIP helps individual neurons expressing BMAL1 and PER2 stay in perfect alignment with one another.
Without adequate VIP signaling, peripheral clocks drift apart and desynchronize.
-Epitalon/pinealon
-NAC
When BMAL1 expression is blunted or delayed (as seen in ADHD), the natural morning surge of Nrf2 and glutathione fails to cycle optimally.
NAC delivers the raw building blocks to create glutathione, effectively bypassing a lagging BMAL1 switch

There are progressive Christians alive today who will tell you that if the Turks invade, as a Christian, you should not fight back and should just let them kill you. And if you fight back and "Reconquista" what they took, then you will be more evil than they ever were.

Pristine.
No, but listen, you know this "put the fries in the bag, Terence Tao"'--*sniff, sniff*--already the usual replies concede too much. "If Tao is serving fries, YOU will be in the lithium mines." My God! This is our defense of human dignity? Don’t worry, the correct people will get the terrible jobs!
*Pulls at shirt* You see, everything is up for radical transformation, human intelligence, consciousness, and so on and so on--except that somebody must still have a shitty afternoon so I can enjoy my lunch.
But to say "these people are envious", this is too easy. It allows us, "the educated ones," our own little fantasy: we are disliked only because we are so wonderful.
You know, the more interesting thing is this *sniff* peculiar identification with the machine. When the mathematician discovers something, apparently this was HIS achievement, his privilege, his little secret. When the machine discovers something, suddenly it's "Look what WE can do!" The achievement has become collective precisely at the moment when no human being can claim credit.
See how this "we" functions. For the achievement, I identify with the machine. For the consequences, I identify YOU with the human. "We have surpassed you." Who are we? Well, myself and the thing that has also surpassed me.
There is something almost touching here, really. To escape the humiliation of somebody absorbed in something opaque to you, you appeal to something which knows incomparably more than either of you. And this is supposed to settle the matter in YOUR favor.
You know the old example of canned laughter. Here we have a similar arrangement. The machine achieves something on my behalf. The mathematician suffers the loss of human significance on my behalf. Somebody to be brilliant for me and somebody to be obsolete for me, without me having to be either, so I can remain as I was.
But *pulls on shirt* there is this little difficulty that hides the essential thing: you still need a response from Tao! A correct proof, this Lean slop and so on, is not enough. You need him to certify his own defeat. You need him to say "By god, this is extraordinary! Yes, this is correct, but also this is interesting." Which means--and here comes Hegel--the person you are reducing to an obedient instrument must remain more than an obedient instrument. You need recognition from someone whose authority you are abolishing.
"Your so-called expertise is worthless. Now tell me, in your expert opinion, that I, qua machine representative, was right."
*Touches nose* But I would go a step further. What does this math person actually do to provoke you? In the fantasy, I mean. He need not insult you. He can be generous, mild-mannered, whatever. Something remains irritating: there is something over there which occupies him, which matters to him, and your opinion does not settle what it is worth. Perhaps he is not even looking down on you. This is the really intolerable possibility.
This, you see, is closer to the Lacanian problem of the Other's desire. Not simply "What does he have that I don't?" but "What the hell is going on with him?" Perhaps the answer is: he is thinking about something else.
The fries solve this beautifully. Now you know what you are for him. He needs the money. Your presence creates an obligation.
And this, at last, also explains why the machine can be less threatening than the mathematician. The machine's intelligence may exceed yours unimaginably, but you imagine it arrives in response to your prompt. You can complain about the tone. You have the privileges of an angry customer and so on and so on. The human has this irritating possibility of being interested in something you did not request and cannot order. And please, this includes the person already serving the fries!
*Pulls at shirt* I am almost tempted to say: the dream of unlimited intelligence conceals just this: a the wish that nobody should be doing anything you cannot immediately understand as a service.

Cognitive recovery after COVID isn't complete, and that's the optimistic reading of this study.
92 people with post-COVID, a full neuropsych battery, retested a year later. Memory got better. Processing speed didn't.🧵
Cognitive phenotypes and neuropsychological trajectories in post-COVID-19 syndrome: a 12-month follow-up study
🚨LongC0VID brains: memory often rebounds within a year, but attention and processing speed stay stuck. New 12-month study of 92 patients shows selective recovery, not full return to baseline. The daily life consequences...... 👇😧
➡️This again interesting Spanish 12-month longitudinal study followed 92 adults with post-COVID19 syndrome (PCS: mean age ~49 years, predominantly women) who had previously undergone comprehensive neuropsychological assessment,
➡️Participants were retested after roughly 1 year using the same battery covering attention/processing speed, memory, executive functions, visuospatial abilities, and language,
➡️Pre–post comparisons (Wilcoxon tests with FDR correction) showed significant gains mainly in verbal memory (learning and recall measures), visual memory, matrix reasoning, inhibitory control, and certain action-processing tasks (fluency and naming),
➡️In contrast, attention and processing-speed measures remained largely unchanged,
➡️Using a domain-based phenotype approach, the proportion of participants classified as having normal cognition increased (from 65.1 % to 77.1 % at the −1 SD cutoff and from 83.1 % to 86.7 % at the stricter cutoff),
➡️Residual impairment was predominantly single-domain and driven by attention/processing speed,
➡️Multi-domain profiles that persisted also frequently involved this domain,
➡️Exploratory analyses linked neither cognitive reserve nor affective symptoms strongly to trajectories,
➡️The sample characteristics note that 51 % reported COVID-19 reinfection and 90 % were vaccinated. The study does not analyse or report any specific effects of reinfection or vaccination status on cognitive trajectories, phenotypes, or recovery rates,
➡️Overall, the data indicate selective, partial cognitive recovery in PCS, with attention and processing speed emerging as the most persistent vulnerabilities.
‼️So, one year later, memory and some higher-level thinking skills improved in people with LongC0VID syndrome, yet attention and processing speed barely recovered, leaving a lasting vulnerability.
In everyday terms: trouble focusing and thinking quickly can still make ordinary things harder, staying concentrated while driving in traffic, flying as a pilot, keeping up with a complicated conversation, meeting work deadlines, or using phones and computers without getting overwhelmed.
Memory often gets better (so people may forget less), but the stubborn attention problems can leave them slower, more mentally drained, and make it tougher to fully get back to work or social life even when other thinking skills improve. Sound familiar???
