Reminder for future self:
Don’t try to fit into someone else’s shoes.
Wearing a shoe that doesn’t fit only leads to cramped foot. Remember that.
Don’t copy journeys. It’s okay to fail trying.

Human judgement in engineering is ironically even more crucial now. Deciding what to build. Deciding on the right architectures. Deciding whether you regenerate from scratch $$$ or reuse existing legos. Managing tech debt. You can do anything now, but you can't do everything.

This is sad.
Anagha is leaving India.
The girl that's trying to store data in bacterial DNA.
She even made it work - the prototype.
And she did it working out of a tiny lab and Rs 5 crore in funding.
So we can't really blame her.
She is just trying to keep her dream alive.
But I wish we are able to solve the problem of patient capital - the kind that cares more about innovation instead of the ROI.
In 2015, 3 billionaires (Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and Reid Hoffman) plus a few millionaires committed $1B to an AI research company.
Its goal was not to generate the most ROI but to "advance digital intelligence in the way that is most likely to benefit humanity as a whole".
That's just what 4 billionaires were able to do.
India has 250+ billionaires.
We just need a few of them to take these moonshot bets to make a difference.
Any takers?
india ke paas paise ki kummi nahi hai. awareness ki hai.
BioCompute, @y_unstoppably 's company, has raised over 5 crores over the last 2 years from: WTF fund, Grad Capital, 1517 Fund and more.
If I wrote about all the awards that she has won in the last two years, I would miss the point.
The point is: she is leaving. For two reasons:
1. Capital
2. Talent
In one of the many conversations i have had with her, this one stuck with me:
"There are Indians in the US who I know I will be hiring. They don't want to raise their kids there. They want to come home."
So this isn't about talent either. It's about money. If there's capital for people like Anagha, starting with Anagha, the dam will break.
Bring our men and women home. Spread the word. If you're a VC interested in being part of BioCompute's Seed round, email me: bhatiavyom27@gmail.com or check the link in bio.
And by the way, this isn't a last ditch effort to help Anagha raise her Seed round. She has commitments in SF. that's quite literally why she is moving there.
This is a small attempt to keep bleeding edge DNA storage technology within Indian borders. I believe in Anagha.

Ather using their data to build pothole map.
Atomberg using their data to build water quality report.
Startups are doing the work municipalities should be doing 🙏🏽
Been exactly a year since we launched water purifiers
We now have TDS data from tens of thousands of Atomberg water purifiers installed across the country
And we combined that with publicly available data from different government sources like central pollution control board, jal jeevan mission and central ground water board
And built a free tool where you can enter your pincode and check your water quality- TDS levels, TDS variance, chemicals present etc

Replying to @Yuchenj_UW
converting TS to Python to dodge copyright is wild but also kind of proves the point. if an AI can translate your entire codebase to another language in hours, what exactly is the moat? its not the code. its the data, the users, and the iteration speed

i bet you will be shocked by how many doors will open for you if are just insane and delusional
So good this one. Made me realise how there’s still a lot of research and work to be explored in fields like Information Retrieval and classical language processing algorithms.
My final thesis was on a LexRank optimisation and this made damn nostalgic :’)
The sunset scene is well…remade to afternoon scene.
When you make a movie starring A-list stars remaking a GOATED movie. How can you not try to interpret the cinematography of what you’re trying to remake?
