We keep hearing that AI capacity shortage is a supply problem. We think part of it is a workload distribution problem.
BloombergNEF projects US data centers will need 194 GW by 2035. The most ever connected to the grid in one year is 7.1 GW, so even at that record pace there’s a 19 GW shortfall.
McKinsey & Company expects inference to become more than half of all AI compute by 2030, and expects a shift toward smaller, distributed data centers to serve it.
AI inference doesn’t need one giant campus. It can run across distributed sites, and that is the solution we’re working on at LōD.

Yes!!!!!!!!! If you attended THE premiere university in the IS you should have generalized knowledge of the world. Bitcoin is suspiciously omitted along with the philosophy that drives it.

@CipherInc, @fluidstack, and @AnthropicAI Commit $10 Million to Repair and Expand Colorado City's Water System
Following this summer's water shortages, the companies are funding upgrades identified by Colorado City leaders to strengthen the city's water system through the newly formed Colorado City Water Infrastructure Foundation.
Importantly, the Barber Lake data center runs on its own on-site water supply and draws nothing from Colorado City's system.
"Being a good neighbor means showing up for the issues that matter most to the communities where we operate, even when those issues predate us. In Colorado City, we wanted to invest directly in solutions that will benefit the community for years to come. We're grateful to Speaker Burrows and local leaders for their partnership, and proud that Colorado City is home to one of our data centers,” said Tyler Page, Chief Executive Officer.

West Texas has spent generations feeding America, clothing America, and powering America.
I think we may be getting ready to help compute it, too.
Cattle. Cotton. Crude. Cloud.
I wrote about why AI infrastructure could represent the next chapter of the West Texas economy:

“You support building more AI data centers across the country?!”
Brother, I’m building one in my basement.
Printed money is the best money
NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE JUST STOP PAYING STUDENT LOANS…
Logged in this morning to check my balance. Borrowed $32k back in 2013.
Been paying $420 a month, every month, eleven years now. Do the math on that and it's over $55,000 that's left my account.
Balance today: $28,900.
Eleven years. Fifty five grand. And I've knocked about three thousand off what I actually borrowed.
I have now paid them more than I ever took out and I still owe basically the whole thing.
WHERE DID THAT $55,000 GO? Genuinely asking. I'll shut up and listen.

10 year roi. Probably makes about 30 cents a day. Even at a full burn for 6 hours you might be looking at 2$ a day. Better off buying a miner n just plugging it in on a timer.
Trust me/verify I’d know the economics of solar.
NEW BITCOIN MINER TURNS EXCESS SOLAR INTO SATS
Swiss energy hardware company RY3T is developing the Nova, the first commercial product built on the open-source Mujina Bitcoin mining firmware funded by the 256 Foundation.
The Nova dynamically adjusts its power consumption in seconds to match excess solar generation, allowing homeowners to mine Bitcoin with electricity that would otherwise be exported to the grid at low rates or curtailed.
The system can scale up to 9kW across three miners, with Mujina allowing power adjustments without restarting the mining process.
Pre-orders are open in Switzerland and the EU, with plans for a future US launch.

reminder, if you got hacked: sucks to be sure, but it’s just money. you can get it back
there are things that didn’t happen to you yesterday - things that you would have willingly given it all up for, but all the money in the world could not have reversed
those things - brain tumors, aneurysms, heart attacks, car accidents, murders by career criminals that a leftist DA let out of prison - happened to other people who would give everything to be you right now
even though it doesn’t feel like it right now: you’re lucky. you can make it all back.
so strap the fuck in, dig deep, and be thankful that the only thing you lost is something you can get back
and as luck would have it, it’s on sale right now for 50% off
Imagine a highway where cars, pickups, and delivery trucks keep moving—but every semi pulls over whenever traffic might set a record.
Not because the road is full.
Because four moments of traffic set the semis’ toll bill for the entire year.
That was June.
We watched power trade at $1–20/MWh—not because the semis didn’t want the road, but because the toll system kept the biggest users parked.
Then July pushed Texas past 91,000 MW.
The semis merged back in. The grid carried more load than ever, and power moved into the $15–40/MWh range.
Tougher for us at Cholla? Absolutely.
But it is a more honest picture of what the Texas grid can actually carry.
June showed us what the toll does.
July showed us what the road can do.

I think a 80 miner swap on a Thursday is child’s play on a 1500 device site. All a matter of perspective.
THE CEO OF A BITCOIN MINING COMPANY JUST SAID BITCOIN'S DAY AS MONEY IS OVER
Bitcoin bitcoin:native still works as a store of value, but he's pivoting MARA $MARA toward AI:
- Bitcoin remains valuable as an asset held outside central control, portable, unless authorities shut off conversion to cash
- MARA isn't accumulating more Bitcoin right now, since most miners are mining at a loss and he won't dilute shareholders to fund it
- He's not less excited about Bitcoin, he's just moved it into a different box: his fiduciary duty is to convert MARA's land and power into AI, which delivers a much higher return
The internet is getting reset. The new feature launch from a food delivery company is a command line interface! We are rolling back all of the clutter required to allows humans to use technology so that our AI’s don’t burn too many tokens 😂

Television reporter Dick Carlson outs tennis player Renee Richards as Richard Raskind, a male who underwent a sex change last year to become a woman, and who is now vying to compete in next year’s U.S. Open tournament.
Carlson argues that Richards is a male, and that Richards competing in a women’s tournament could endanger the level of competition for future generations such as his son, Tucker.
