On this day in 1973, five youths went on a day trip. Though one survived, none of them really ever came back. Read about all of the mad and the macabre on display in Tobe Hooper’s THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE (1974) in the link below! #tobehooper

In 1988, Robert Altman and Doonesbury creator Gary Trudeau crafted a fictional presidential candidate and ran him in the democratic presidential primary. The result was TANNER ‘88, Altman’s greatest achievement of the 1980’s. Check it out! #robertaltman

Come on out to @TheParamountOKC on 8/26 at 7:00 where I’ll be screening John Carpenter’s debut film, DARK STAR for the amazing low price of $0. More fun than we’re legally to give away without charging, but we at the @oklafilmsociety really like to push that envelope!

Patrick is right. There are other good segments, Roddam, Sturridge, Tempest, etc but Ken’s Woman-as-Saturn in the resurrection chamber between lives is mind-blowingly exquisite.
Ken Russell’s segment is the goddamned BEST and makes this admirably ambitious yet wildly uneven omnibus from 1987 worth the trouble. Jean-Luc Godard utterly beclowns himself into hot-take heaven, per usual. Altman couldn’t find his ass with two hands and a map in 87. #kenrussell
