So what we talk about thanking people for the service, let's remember that it goes a lot deeper than signing a piece of paper and then showing up for duty. It means freely giving up access to some of those rights that we put our lives on the line to protect. So use those freedoms

One of the things about military life that most people never consider is the fact that while they are serving our country while we served, we never had Total Access to the freedoms that we were protecting. We get called we go, no questions asked. Military families serve to.

#PTSDchat One who chooses to hurt someone who is in a state of panic needs to shut the hell up! Leave the person alone if you won't be of help, and allow that person at least a chance to seek real help! Only the most ridiculously low idiot does that to another!

#PTSDchat #Suicide is about using all the strength one can gather, to make the ultimate sacrifice: oneself! Anyone who thinks a weak person can do it? Doesn't know a damned thing worth saying to me! I've survived many things, but thinking I was unworthy to be alive? True enemy!

G S: #PTSDchat Stepdad found me, all cut up, almost gone. He laughed at me. Said he didn't think I was worth saving, not worth the cost of the ambulance. A neighbor heard him and came to see if anything was wrong. That's why I'm still here. That bastard! I still deal with that.

That is why we have to find our tribe of like minded people. Mental health advocacy is one such tripe. #ptsdchat

#PTSDchat Me with my suicidal counterpart visualization: Asking why it won't leave me alone, or why it isn't strong enough to make me do what it wants. I eventually tell it to "get the hell outta dodge; you ain't got the gear to take me out!"

#PTSDchat Sitting on a beach, I watched the tide rolling in and out. I realized that not a single molecule of water that ever existed hit that shore in the same place twice. That was a uniquely educational moment for me. It was like seeing something old in a new way.
