Bragging about being a member of the British Parachute Regiment is nothing to be proud of. Those murderous bastards shot and killed 14 innocent men and boys in Derry in 1972. The Seville Report found they were all unarmed and posed no threat. Some of them were shot in the back.
I spent 16 years in the British Army, leaving the Parachute Regiment as a Major. I served three tours in Afghanistan, one attached to US Army Special Forces, as well as tours in Bosnia, Northern Ireland and the Middle East. I later taught military theory and leadership at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Academically, I have an LLB in Law & Politics, an MA with Distinction in War Studies & Military History and an MSc with Distinction in Psychology. I also hold postgraduate qualifications in Leadership & Strategic Management and Higher Education, and I am now completing a PhD in War Studies examining what Ukraine and the post-7 October wars can tell us about the future of warfare.
Since leaving the Army, I have spent a great deal of time going to the wars I write about. I visited Gaza twice in 2024, went inside captured Hezbollah tunnels in Lebanon, visited the Ukrainian front lines, and in 2025 became the first neutral researcher invited to observe the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distribution sites. My research has produced substantial reports on casualty statistics, human shields, information warfare, humanitarian operations and the tactical lessons emerging from Gaza. You can find them at @HJS_Org
I make no apology for advertising to you that this is an unusually strong background for analysing contemporary conflict. There are not many conflict analysts who combine command experience in war, formal study of war, law and psychology, experience teaching future Army officers, think-tank research and repeated fieldwork inside the conflicts they analyse.
Those different disciplines also catch different mistakes. Military experience makes it harder to mistake a map arrow for a feasible operation. War Studies forces tactical events back into their political and strategic context. Psychology matters when propaganda, perception and behavioural manipulation have become part of the battlefield. Law matters when almost every contemporary campaign is simultaneously fought through international institutions, courts and competing claims about legitimacy. Fieldwork is the final check because people who actually fight wars have a habit of complicating theories developed by chairborne researchers from several thousand miles away.
That is what I try to bring to my Substack. I am less interested in telling readers who “won” yesterday than in working out what happened, why it happened, what the participants were trying to achieve, whether they possessed the means to achieve it, and what the consequences are likely to be. Tactical success, military effectiveness and strategic success are not synonyms. Much bad analysis begins by treating them as though they are.
I will get things wrong. Anyone analysing wars in real time will. The promise I can reasonably make is that I will go to the evidence, go to the people involved where I can, change my assessment when the evidence changes, and tell you what I think rather than what my supposed political tribe would prefer me to think.
There is an enormous quantity of geopolitical commentary available for free. I think the combination behind mine is genuinely unusual.
If that is the sort of conflict analysis you want to read, please check out: mrandrewfox.substack.com
Official police data shows that major crime rates in Toronto are down overall under Mayor Olivia Chow. Gun violence and homicides are also way down under her leadership. #Bradford and his #sychophants continually lie about her record, they have no plan beyond baseless criticisms.
After claiming credit for crime stats being down and telling Torontonians we’re just imagining lawlessness and disorder, @OliviaChow wants us to believe she’ll be the one to restore public safety to #Toronto.
We know better—for a safer city, vote for @BradMBradford.
What sort of a fucken idiot would make such an allegation without showing proof it was an Olivia Chow supporter ? This is the typical type of bullshit we hear from desperate campaigns. #Bradford came across as a petulant complainer with zero vision for #Toronto.
A friend of mine had their @BradMBradford sign stolen from the front of their lawn.
Are @oliviachow supporters so desperate that they resort to this? Is this a reflection of how badly they think their candidate’s chances are or is this just who they are?
Pathetic. Despicable. Desperate.
Why would anyone believe anything this ex jailbird pardoned by Trump have to say about Trump? Both of them are convicted criminals and surprise ! surprise! both of them are huge supporters of the war criminal Netanyahu. #BirdsOfaFeather #FlockTogether
It is not necessary to be a reactionary to dissent from the conventional wisdom that a Democratic wave will sweep the midterms. In the fury and venom of Trump-hate, which has been, along with truly absurd Islamo-Marxist nostrums, the only discernible offering of the Democratic Party for the last two years, strategists may imagine that descent into political total war is an attractive option to the American electorate. It isn’t.
Polling is unreliable and left-leaning; Trump’s low approval rating is likely underestimated and remains ~15 points above the approval rating of the Congressional Democrats. Republicans have a large financial advantage which will presumably be applied as the election proceeds, to tout the remarkable record of achievement of the Trump administration. Trump accounts, lower crime, massive reductions in illegal immigration and deportations, lower prescription prices, high economic growth, deregulation, escape from the climate-change obsession, and the assault on wokeness, DEI, and the intellectual corruption of universities and unionized schools, which more accurately resemble daycare centers where young people are taught to hate America.
The more the country sees the field of Islamo-Marxist lunatics candidates who have been herded in from the fringe and now comprise the back-bone of the Democratic mainstream, the more appealing Trump becomes. After ten years the country is somewhat tiring of Trump, but he does pierce the pomposity of the political class.
The question Americans will have to ask is whether temporarily elevated gasoline prices are an acceptable cost to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of the Iranian terrorist theocracy. While Democrats continue to attempt to paint Iran as another Vietnam, Trump has rendered the Iranian currency worthless, driven inflation sky-high, forced gasoline rationing, and pushed the regime near bankruptcy. This is the most one-sided war in history between serious combatants—total U.S. combat-related deaths through this entire conflict have been no more than a bad weekend in Chicago.
Trump’s record of achievement is eminently defensible and should weigh more heavily than the vagaries of his personality.

By honoring #Navi_Pillay it says to the world that we recognise the courage of this woman who called out the genocide and the monsters responsible for it. The world will never forget. 1000 years from now Netanyahu's name will be a curse word.
My father, Elie Wiesel, received the Nobel Peace Prize for ensuring the Holocaust wouldn’t be forgotten. By honoring Navi Pillay, who accused Israel of genocide, the committee has betrayed his legacy. thefp.com/p/elie-wiesel-deat…
What Canadians condemn the Nobel Committee? Israel and its criminal government are correctly accused of committing a genocide. A recent world poll of 40,000 ppl show Israel to be the most disliked country in the world. That's what happens when you commit a genocide.
Canadians condemn the Nobel Committee’s decision to award Navi Pillay the 2026 Peace Prize. Her leadership of the commission accusing Israel of genocide and support for sanctions against Israel raising profound concerns about impartiality. We believe this selection rewards bias and undermines the prize’s moral authority. Coming two days after October 7’s third anniversary, it is an affront to victims and survivors. Peace requires truth, fairness and unequivocal opposition to terrorism. We urge the committee to reconsider and uphold equal dignity and justice for Israelis and Palestinians alike. @AnitaAnandMP @NobelPrize
This is excellent work by #DavidRosenfeld and #MichaelWenig on behalf of @bnaibrithcanada . There should be no hiding place anywhere on the planet for Nazis. The question now is what will Canada do with any of the Nazis on the list if they are still alive?
Big win for @bnaibrithcanada and the entire community with the release of the unredacted Rodal report on Nazi war criminals suspected to have entered Canada after WWII.

Why am I not surprised.
🔺Latest: Reports coming in from the stadium that one of the Ireland back-room staff was spat at by an Israel player during that half-time clash. Fitness coach Damien Doyle has alleged he was spat as the teams went off for the break.

In journalism and human-rights work, protecting source identities is a long-standing ethical and practical norm precisely when the material involves atrocities, war crimes, or powerful actors capable of retaliation. Stop with the gaslighting, the world has seen the evidence.
Replying to @PSidRyan
Patrick. Not a single so called IDF soldiers was verified. I’ve seen th propaganda film. That is all it is. Propaganda and an excuse for Jew haters to hate Jews. Israel is not going anywhere. Neither are Jews.

🚨 BREAKING:
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola:
"If this isn't genocide, then what is it?"
The legendary Manchester City manager condemns the Israeli "massacres":
"We have allowed them to destroy an entire people. Our children could be in Gaza and be killed simply because they were born there."
No amount of your fake hasbara will undermine the truth exposed by Naza. Wait for world reaction when it will be debuting on Netflix in Novemner and the broader world recoils in horror. The jig is up buddy. It was produced and directed by Israelis and features IDF officers.
Imagine that. The former Islamaphobia czar for Canadas and former employee of Cair-Can (now NCCM) spreading anti-Israel propaganda.
For the truth watch….

Appalled by an opinion column in the @nationalpost endorsing violence against NDP leader @AviLewis. The Post should retract this article, and apologize to Mr. Lewis. There is no place in a free and democratic society for the incitement of violence against political leaders.
Big hairy deal, he was spoken to in a bold and agressive manner- nothing illegal about that. It was an information picket line to highlight the fact a vile propagandist was a guest speaker. All legal and in accordance with Charter protected rights. So, what is your problem?
It's only new if you do not understand the facts. The CBC journalist's credibility was seriously compromised when he posted a one sided version of his experience. He identified himself as a journalist thereby dragging his employer into a much disputed series of events. 1/2
