What if you could run your own private Monad network in seconds, on your laptop? Enter Monad Solonet. Spin up a local Monad network, experiment with multi-validator setups, build and test your contracts in isolation, and more. Unlimited tokens, zero setup. And yes, it works on macOS too. github.com/monad-crypto/mona…

This work feels particularly refreshing to me. HFT is naturally secretive and closed-source while building in the open on Monad helps push the frontier of blockchain technology forward. In this blog post, @talzuss breaks down how an optimization intended for MonadDB (a narrow crypto implementation) turns into a win for Linux (one of the largest OSS distributions). Get it in linux 7.3, dropping in a couple weeks.

Excited to propose five new JSON-RPC methods to fetch EVM blockchain history: blocks, transactions, logs, traces, and native transfers. These methods address longstanding Ethereum data problems at the protocol layer, through an open standard that any EVM chain can adopt.

MIP-8 Hard fork in 24 hours. If you haven’t upgraded your Monad node yet, it’s time.
MIP8 is coming to Mainnet! v0.16.1 is now available for all nodes on Mainnet. The release has a Hard Fork at timestamp 1788359400 to activate MONAD_TEN (MIP-8), which will occur on Wednesday 2026-09-02 14:30 UTC. The release requires the Monad node to run with Page-encoded timeline activated (which was completed at Phase A). Upgrade instructions: docs.monad.xyz/node-ops/upgr… Release notes: - monad (execution): v0.16.1: github.com/category-labs/mon… - monad-bft (consensus): v0.16.1: github.com/category-labs/mon… FULLNODE / RPC / ARCHIVE PROVIDERS: 🟢 Full Node: Operators can upgrade at will, before the Hard Fork date ⚠️ VALIDATORS: MF IS ROLLING OUT THIS RELEASE IN COHORTS. Please check official announcement channels for updates.

Update on MIP-8 rollout As a reminder, MIP-8 introduces page-aware storage, reorganizing the Merkle trie to assign nearby slots to the same disk page. This is a huge efficiency gain since all db lookups are in units of pages. It is currently super inefficient that nearby slots hash to different disk pages, and MIP-8 solves this problem. Since the database structure is changing, nodes need to temporarily maintain both the old (slot-based) and new (page-based) databases in parallel, then at a later point need to phase out the old database. Software upgrades are planned to execute this transition in phases: - at the start of Phase A, both databases are maintained - at the start of Phase B, the page-based (new) database becomes the primary one (i.e. the node fails if the page-based database is not running), and MIP-8 takes effect - at the start of Phase C, the node stops maintaining the slot-based (old) database Phase A was implemented via v0.15.2. A supermajority of both testnet and mainnet nodes are on this now. Phase B is being implemented in v0.16.0 for testnet, gated by a specific timestamp. A supermajority of testnet nodes are on this now, with the timestamp set for 2026-08-12 at 14:30 UTC. After this point in time, MIP-8 will be in effect (lower gas costs for multiple state accesses touching the same page) on testnet. This post describes the migration: docs.monad.xyz/node-ops/upgr…

v0.15.1 Hardfork on Mainnet is complete! Blocks averaging ~300ms, chain operating smoothly.
📢 v0.15.1 has been released on Mainnet! 📢 This release results in a Hard Fork at round 89,758,000 (~Jul 23, 10:30 AM EDT). MIP-12: Populates the mainnet activation round for the vote pace change and block reward update (25 → 18 MON). Activation is set for round 89,758,000 (~Thu Jul 23, 10:30 AM EDT). ⚠️ Mainnet Validator operators: Rollout is being coordinated in cohorts via official channels! Cohorts will be alerted to rollout readiness via official announcement. Full Nodes, RPC + Archive nodes upgrade at will! ⚠️ All mainnet nodes must upgrade to v0.15.1 before Round 89,758,000. Nodes not upgraded by then will not recognize the new block reward and will fall out of consensus. Note: nodes upgrading from v0.14.5 or earlier require a DB migration (monad-mpt --storage /dev/triedb --upgrade) — same as the v0.15.0 migration on Testnet. Links below 🧵

Testnet Hardfork Complete! MIP12 is now active. Block times averaging around 300ms. Network is stable.
v0.15.0 is available on Testnet since late last week. This version results in a hardfork of Testnet this Thursday 9th July at round 43,821,000. Highlights: 1. MIP-12: Vote pace + block reward activation — updated vote pacing and block reward activation schedule 2. One-time DB metadata migration required (monad-mpt --upgrade) — bumps DB schema MONAD007 → MONAD008, initializing secondary timeline metadata for upcoming dual-timeline support 3. RPC batch concurrency limit — new server-side cap on concurrent batch requests to prevent resource exhaustion 4. eth_simulateV1 gated behind CLI flag — disabled by default; enable with --enable-eth-simulate-v1 5.Raptorcast starvation fix — networking message starvation in raptorcast resolved 🧵
