🚨He only got 24 Tests. He still made the world look slow a rugby Hero, Danie Gerber 🏉 Isolation stole the rest. Danie Gerber still left 19 tries, a hat-trick against England, two against the All Blacks on the night South Africa came home, and that Ireland try where two defenders ran into each other because neither of them knew which way he was going. From Despatch. Centre. Sometimes wing. Always dangerous‼️🔥 158 first-class tries. A try almost every Test. Bill McLaren called him the greatest centre the world has ever seen. Jean de Villiers called him his childhood hero and the best player this country has produced. He trained like a professional in an amateur age. Sidestep off both feet from the football he played as a boy. Acceleration that made wingers look planted. Power that sat tacklers down. Vision that put Carel du Plessis away with a pass that still looks like magic. We loved him because he made rugby look like joy. Because when the ball found him, something was about to happen. Because a whole country, in a hard time, they would say, I don’t agree ‼️ could watch one man run and feel proud. 🚨A hero. A friend to the game. And yes he was that talented please tell me your story about this South African rugby hero Danie Gerber🏆🫡
