We have prepared a research summary and infographics to support the story airing today by Australia's top investigative news show @4corners @Milliganreports into failures by @AFL to keep a signed commitment in 2014 to "eradicate homophobia."
Please share outonthefields.com/AFL
The @AFL supporters groups and @crows_rainbow have launched a petition calling on senior leaders like @tanyahosch to enact many of the measures the AFL commited to enact in 2014 and .... the Australian Government told the AFL to enact in 2000.

“Everyone has the right to be who they are, to express that and to be safe doing so.
It absolutely is a human rights issue that no male player in the ALF feels safe to come out as gay.”

How brave is Michael O’Donnell? Give him some 🙌.
Thank you for the kind words about tonight’s Four Corners episode. Credit should go to @Milliganreports for putting together such a thoughtful piece. I could only do something like this with the support of my family, friends and teammates - which I’ve always been lucky to have.

No professional male AFL player, past or present, has ever publicly come out as gay or bisexual. Insiders say a culture of homophobia lingers. abc.net.au/news/2023-08-21/a…
Grateful to the bravey of @jasonballau @TheMikeOD for sharing their stories and to @Milliganreports @ABC #4Corners for shining light on the AFL's failures to tackle homophobic behaviours in sport.
How wonderful to have @TheMikeOD share his story to help push forward the conversation about tackling homophobia in the AFL. Articulate and courageous. Catch the full story by @Milliganreports on #4Corners tonight abc.net.au/news/2023-08-21/a…
We found LBGTQ+ kids who came out in school or community sport are more likely to be targetted with very harmful homophobic abuse. Those who come out at the elite levels have the power to change this. Thank you @davis_atkin for your bravery

I often am asked "who cares?" or "why does it matter?" when athletes like @IsaacHumphries7 and @JoshuaCavallo come out.
Here is your answer ⬇️⬇️.
Important work @KonradMarshall @GoodWeekendMag @katrinastrick
Who cares?
All too often it’s the reflex question when a professional athlete comes out.
Take a moment, and allow @MelbUnited centre @IsaacHumphries7 to explain who cares and why, in @GoodWeekendMag - sharing his tale of trauma, love and hoops 🏀🌈💪

We think the blanket exclusions from various international sporting bodies we've seen recently are unfair, unfounded and discriminatory.

Anti-trans organisations who have no history in sport are creating a situation where International Sports Federations are returning to archaic ‘sex-texting’ practices for women & girls in sport.
The same practices that women IN sport have been campaigning for years to abolish
