Today marks a year @Newsday ā that went fast.
Itās been eventful: from buried chemical drums to contentious town meetings. Looking forward to another busy one covering Oyster Bay and Glen Cove.

Want to do the husband thing and say Iām immensely proud of my wife, @MGM_Studios_, for her work designing and assembling this case (and the @nyknicks bus rolling through the city today).
She works so hard to preserve and present history at @TheGarden.

@newsdayās transportation reporter tried traversing Long Island in one day by every conceivable mode of transit. There were missed buses and trains, utility poles on the train tracks ā sound familiar, commuters? ā and a guy banging his head with a gavel.

Comparisons ā known in the real estate industry as ācompsā ā are difficult when it comes to #OhekaCastle, the 117-room hotel/catering business/mansion going up for auction later this month. There simply arenāt any other ācastlesā around here.
It's a Gold Coast mansion with spectacular views of Long Island Sound.
Surrounded by an 18-hole golf course, it played the fictional Xanadu in "Citizen Kane," appeared in a Taylor Swift music video and hosted the wedding of a Jonas brother.
One Long Island developer called it "one of the most beautiful properties on the Island."
But how do you determine the market value of an estate like Oheka Castle?

Some clarity on the Igor Shesterkin injury: it is a right knee injury that will require surgery and a lengthy rehab, according to a source. Thatās why the #NYR arenāt expecting him back this season.
"I lived under Hitler and I ran. And Mussolini put me in a pen as a prisoner. And then I ran again from [communism] and Stalin," said Harry Arlin-Arnstein, who lives in Roslyn, about his life. nwsdy.li/3TVt2WC
