Fantastic demonstration of leadership. #Ciclovia or #OpenStreets is a great way of reducing air pollutants.
BIG NEWS: new Bogotá Mayor @ClaudiaLopez has announced she’s making their #Ciclovía permanent as a way of addressing air pollution & bad air quality, AND to reduce the spread of #covid19 #Coronavirus due to overcrowding on city buses.

Cities around the US are holding events like Boston’s #OpenNewbury which challenge the limited notion that streets are solely places for cars. #OpenStreets can open minds to how much more is possible on these valuable public spaces.
“Our streets have just been looked at as a place to move cars...or as parking lots. These cars basically sit on the side of the road unused 98% of the time. That’s not a really good use of one of the most precious resources a city has: its streets.” @JSadikKhan #OpenNewbury

On weekends and holidays, various major streets in Tokyo are shut off to cars and opened up to people using nothing more than movable signage. This is an example in the Ginza neighborhood today for spring equinox. #OpenStreets
