Today carrier Wi-Fi relies on blind offload and hope, which has failed for 20 years. The shift to controlled offload using real-time UX metrics is key to finally make it work for carriers and subscribers.

@helium_mobile free tier earned enough in HNT mapping rewards last month to generate a 12% positive gross margin. With over 1,000 net new subs per day, it’s shaping up to be a customer acquisition strategy that actually pays.

To maximize hotspot data rewards, you need plenty of subscribers near each hotspot. Telefonica is activating 2.3M subs specifically in the green-marked areas. Deploy strategically.

You can add @helium free plan as a second SIM, and your phone will automatically connect to Helium Wi-Fi hotspots—while still using your main carrier. No need to switch carriers.

TLDR; “By incentivizing individuals and businesses to operate Hotspots, over 400,000 subscribers of U.S. telco carriers connect to the @helium Network daily to access the internet through Hotspots. With over 500 terabytes of data transfers into Helium, the Network has proven that traditional telcos can embrace the capacity, security and effectiveness of decentralized networks.” $hnt

Telecom firms need to start embracing decentralized networks in order to survive, argues @novalabs_ general manager Mario Di Dio (@didiomario). Opinion trib.al/RBEAYNL

Telecom’s Future Lies in Decentralized Networks

The financial and other advantages of decentralized network physical infrastructure networks (DePINs) like Helium are impossible for telecom firms to ignore.

Converged Wi-Fi/Cellular users see ~100Mbps faster downloads vs. cellular-only—despite most offload Wi-Fi being unoptimized, stuck in residential closets on 5GHz. Imagine the impact that an 'offload-optimized' fleet like @helium could eventually bring. rcrwireless.com/20250114/tes…

The fact that Helium boosted reward locations (Purple) are incentivizing people enough to deploy coverage (Blue) inside of a place like Disneyland is WILD, Helium coverage will multiply exponentially, fade @helium at your own peril anon $HNT

Carrier Wi-Fi is the new 5G. With HIP-139 @helium community voted to phase out CBRS by March 1st. This also means more rewards for Wi-Fi and free Wi-Fi hotspots for affected CBRS operators.
