Part 2 of our blog post series on DAS systems is out!! In the first blog post we analyzed the reasons behind the aging of a DAS system and the implications for the user experience. In this post, we dig into the changes of current funding structure and what are the new unit of economics that are driving the adoption of Wi-Fi Passpoint as a viable complement to DAS. All of this points to wireless convergence solutions, like @helium Wi-Fi Off-load Experience (WOX) gateway, that actively monitors and manages network usage inside a venue to optimize CAPEX and OPEX costs for both operators and venues.
DAS Series, Part 2 📶 A DAS (distributed antenna system) is the network of antennas that keeps phones working inside large venues. Most were built around 2011, and upgrading one now costs millions. Who covers that bill, the venue or the carriers, is still unsettled. The answer might already be in the ceiling. helium.com/blog/das-networks… Missed Part 1? helium.com/blog/full-bars-no…

Managed services, wireless convergence, and a future where nobody’s checking their bars. LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi. The tech fades into the background. As carriers focus on Quality of Service, seamless performance is all that matters. Thanks @WBAlliance, see you at the next one 🤝

Most of the Wi-Fi you walk past every day is sitting idle. Grocery stores, hotels, stadiums, hospitals. They all paid for solid networks, and most of that capacity goes unused. Meanwhile, the phones in those same buildings are struggling for signal. Helium connects the two. Venue Wi-Fi joins the Helium Network, and carrier phones hop on automatically. No app, no password, no sign-in. When you leave, they hand back to cellular. The venue gets more out of what it already owns. Carriers get indoor coverage without building a thing. And people just have a phone that works. Thousands of locations are already doing it. Helium puts idle Wi-Fi to work. Learn how you can get involved at helium.com $HNT

Every. Single. Panel. At NetworkX this year. We are shaking an industry. It will not happen overnight but it IS happening right before our own eyes. Can't stop, won't stop!
Every QoS panel this year: “Here’s what this could look like.” Helium: here’s what it looks like. Wifi quality of service (QoS) is the hottest topic in telecom right now. Every conference, every working group, every panel is asking the same question: how do you offload phones onto wifi without making the experience worse? Because that’s the real problem. Carriers want to move more traffic to wifi. It’s cheaper, it’s already deployed, and it’s everywhere. But nobody wants their customers stuck on a bad connection that looks fine on paper. Most of the industry is still in research mode. Helium already turned it into a product. Before a phone ever commits to a network, Helium checks the connection quality in real time. Good wifi? It connects. Weak wifi? It gets skipped. It’s live. 1.5M+ people ride on Helium every day, and most of them never notice. That’s the point. The question isn’t whether QoS becomes the standard for offload. It’s who’s already running it at scale.

$8 billion for spectrum. A three-carrier pact to share satellites. Market caps swinging over outdoor dead zones. Meanwhile 70 to 80 percent of mobile data happens indoors, where none of that spending can reach. The indoor network already exists. 50,000+ locations and counting. We’re at Wireless Global Congress EMEA 2026 showing how the Helium Network fills indoor coverage gaps in stadiums, hotels, hospitals, and more. Then HeliumOS makes sure subscribers only move to Wi-Fi when the experience is actually better ✅. #NetworkX

I’m in Vienna this week for Wireless Global Congress EMEA and Network X. If you’re here for the conference, come to the panel “Beyond Connectivity: Are Managed Services the Next Telecom Growth Engine?” on October 15 at 12:35 PM CEST. We’ve certainly gone beyond connectivity with @helium OS, our intelligent stack for telecom. Our Wi-Fi Offload Experience (WOX) turns Wi-Fi from a black box into carrier-grade infrastructure. Operators get live visibility into every offload session, so they can see what’s happening and set standards to control subscriber experience across cellular and Wi-Fi. While carriers may not have built these Wi-Fi networks, the WOX solution lets them trust them as if they did. I’m in town through Thursday. If you’re a carrier, MVNO, venue operator, or rethinking your own connectivity stack, send me a message and let’s find time to talk. #WGCEMEA | @WBAlliance | @NetworkXEvent

.@helium powers now the largest retailer-owned grocery co-op stores. Can't stop, won't stop!
The largest retailer-owned grocery co-op in the US just turned its store Wi-Fi into a revenue stream. Wakefern is a $20.7B business with 48 member companies and ~365 supermarkets across nine states. ShopRite, Price Rite, The Fresh Grocer, Fairway Market, Gourmet Garage. The first stores are now live on the Helium Network, with more to follow. Supermarkets are brutal for cell signal. Concrete, steel racking, rows of freezers. The traditional fix is a DAS, and the math rarely works for a grocery store. So Wakefern is using what it already owns. Shoppers’ phones hop onto store Wi-Fi automatically. No app, no sign-in. The stores earn as carrier traffic moves over. helium.com/blog/wakefern-gro…

Cell networks get crowded. Wi-Fi is already everywhere. Offload connects the two. Here’s how it works: 1. Crowds strain the cell network 2. Phones join the local Wi-Fi automagically, with no app or sign-in 3. The carrier gets room to breathe 3. The business earns from Wi-Fi it already owns Helium connects businesses and carriers to make it happen. Got Wi-Fi at your business? [email protected] $HNT

Why Helium is worth paying attention to: Carriers have a coverage problem. Phones use more data every year, most of it indoors, and building new towers and antenna systems is slow and expensive. Helium takes a smarter route. It turns the Wi-Fi that’s already in place into carrier-grade coverage. That’s already happening. 100,000 fans at Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium on game day, with phones moving onto the stadium Wi-Fi automatically. No app, no sign-in. Celina, Texas, one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. Ocean Properties, a hotel portfolio that skipped the antenna build and used the Wi-Fi it already owned. No new towers. No construction. Just infrastructure that’s already in place, finally getting used. Manage a venue, hotel, or campus with Wi-Fi? It can carry carrier traffic and earn from it. So excited to see this deployment live with @helium offload solution running the "connectivity game"!!
Stadiums are where phone signals go to die. Tens if not hundreds of thousands of phones, in one bowl, for four hours. Macro cell towers can’t even keep up. Bryant-Denny stadium at University of Alabama is the newest Tier 1 venue to route carrier traffic over the Helium Network instead. And more big venues are figuring this out one Saturday at a time. The key is always managing connection quality at any given time. It's not just onboarding; it's managing the experience. @helium does that with excellence, as a first in the telco industry.
Starlink just teased a community program where people host infrastructure and earn from use. We've been running that model since 2019. What six years taught us: the radio is the easy part. What makes a people-built network actually work is everything that comes after it. Automatic authentication. Verified quality. The carrier tools that let Hotspot deployers earn from traffic that's already moving through their neighborhoods. Helium built the largest people-built wireless network. Then we built the software layer that makes networks like it more usable and more valuable to carriers, devices, and the people who host them. More siloed networks isn't the answer. The answer is interoperability. Any device finding the best access point for the job, automatically, without friction. The model is proven. The infrastructure is live. Now we're bringing the tools to the rest of the industry. finance.yahoo.com/technology… #Helium #WirelessInfrastructure

Managing a carrier-grade Wi-Fi network is complex. HeliumOS was built to make it simpler. At the Wi-Fi NOW webinar, our team walked through how HeliumOS gives operators real visibility into their networks, from device-level diagnostics to venue performance data, without the overhead that usually comes with it. Dean Bubley of Disruptive Analysis put it plainly: people-built Wi-Fi infrastructure is becoming a serious part of how carriers close coverage gaps. HeliumOS is what makes that infrastructure manageable at scale. Watch the video here: vimeo.com/1225178013#chapter… If you work in carrier offload, venue connectivity, or network operations, this one is worth your time.
