Mr Peter Obi 😊😊😊😊😊🤣
Madina: If you lose this election, will you contest for president again in another election? Peter Obi: This will be my last presidential contest because by 2031, I will be approaching 70. I would like young people like you to take over the leadership of Nigeria. Madina: If you want young people to take over the leadership of Nigeria, why did you choose Kwankwaso as your running mate? Peter Obi: Well, Kwankwaso is considered a young man in Nigerian politics today. Madina: Kwankwaso is 69 years old. Peter Obi: 🫣

When people say the president is unpopular, I think we must begin to define what popularity means and not just gulp an elitist rhetoric. Are we saying the president is unpopular amongst parents and students that don’t have to worry about school fees ? Are we saying the president is unpopular amongst pensioners( most recently Nigerian airline pensioners) and now this👇🏽 ? Are we saying the president is unpopular amongst manufacturers and producers that have seen huge record profits ?. Are we saying the president is unpopular amongst the military and security forces?. Are we saying the president is unpopular amongst states residents happy about the huge infrastructure going on in their states ( Lagos - Calabar and Sokoto - Badagry )? Are we saying a president that has given the minorities a sense of belonging is unpopular amongst these minorities? Are we saying the president fighting for LGA autonomy is unpopular amongst local government chairman ? A president that has championed judicial reform is unpopular amongst the judicial officers ?. Are the above not Nigerians and eligible voters ?. Maybe the jury is indeed out on this matter. The coming election will decide how popular or otherwise the president is .
The Federal Government has cleared all inherited pension liabilities dating back to 2007 through a “N758bn intervention bond”, providing long-awaited financial relief to 957,045 beneficiaries across the country. The milestone achievement was announced by the Director General of the National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran, during her keynote address titled ‘From Reform to Reality: Renewed Hope, Pension Security for All Nigerians’ at the 2026 PenCom Media Conference in Lagos on Tuesday. Addressing members of the press, industry leaders, and media practitioners, Oloworaran emphasised that the payout marks a decisive end to decades of delayed benefits passed down across multiple political administrations. She said, “The Federal Government cleared all inherited pension liabilities, some dating back to 2007. These obligations passed through multiple administrations, but this government chose to settle them. That is statesmanship—a debt paid, not just a promise.

Is it the success of banks that should translate to the real sector? Or is it the success of the real sector and economy that should translate to banks? In the traditional sense, a growing economy should mean lower unemployment, higher wages, higher consumption, which fuels credit and interest income for banks. On the other hand a shrinking economy with recession, loss of jobs, low confidence means low consumption, higher defaults, more loan write downs , lower margins and lower bank earnings. But I acknowledge Nigeria economy doesn't follow these Western norms, but still.

The argument that a successful banking sector signposts a weak Economy is queer. In fact the Banking sector with doubtful debts of N 6 trillion with N 1.8 trillion written off has shown resilience. I agree with U that banks should grow their lending range and depth but that should also come with lower lending rates. The argument that should have been made is the high lending rates of 25% - 30% is vo inimical to businesses growth. But with limited and N 6 trillion in bad debts, we also need to guarantee the integrity of the borrowers and run severe rules for insiders dealings. And importantly, we also need credible borrowers

Some people are unavoidably poor. They need all the help they can get. And for some, it is a choice they make. 1. A woman selling Eko, Akara and dundun makes more monthly income than many middle income earners 2. A lot of community women/men travels out of Lagos to buy foodstuffs/cows etc and retail in their street for a fortune. All with joint capital outlay of between 500k to N 1 million. etc Quite surprised that the woman selling gari, yam flours, beans etc in my neighborhood now employs a clerk running a tokunbo computer for her accounting system operating in a shop the size of a standard room. The poor waiting for subsidies to return will continue to languish. But when subsidy is off, look for legitimately gainful activities so that U too can shift the burden of subsidies removal The Economy is always an exchange system - Subsidy or no Subsidy

We must diffentiate between two standpoints: 1.The President: a man of brilliant leadership, high Economy management intelligence, compassionate and of highly matured characters. 2. His unavoidable reformative but difficult economic Reforms. He is really not being applauded by people devastated by the harsh effects of these Reforms. And his political adversaries opportunistically capitalizing on this. But it is even difficult to say his policies are unpopular because they are delivering tangible results. But apt to say people hoping for accelerated reliefs for their pains And Mr President knows this and will surely deliver.

The problem isn’t that our banks are successful. Infact we want them successful.A strong financial system is very important to our economy. The problem is how the manner of success and how much to this success translates to the real sector. Nigeria’s deposit money banks total assets is ₦180.37 trillion- 41.8 % of GDP. Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR) for Nigerian banks is around 46% system-wide, falling short of ideal productivity. Global benchmark is around 70%-90%. This is the elephant in the room. Then how much of the meagre percent of LDR(46%) is given to MSME?.

I am one of the beneficiaries’ parents. My daughter resumed school today, Funab specifically. I felt such relief because I only pay for the hostel and buy foodstuffs. There is no worry about school fees. May Nigeria succeed under President Tinubu.

A Poor person can complain about inflation but the same person doesn’t need to bother about school fee for the children, perhaps uses a CNG fitted car and has been captured under the National health insurance scheme, perhaps a beneficiary of the credit schemes and vocational training program, whose pension was also recently paid. Should the government take back the listed benefits and return the poor person to the previous situation where he pays for the above and he is deprived of his pension? We must always make choices from an informed stand point while considering the opportunity cost.

@officialABAT @NGRPresident @fkeyamo @NigAirForce In a space of 11years we have lost over 16 military aircraft.
About 20 military aircraft crashes have been recorded since 2015. Over 16 aircrafts lost. The lives of our finest and brightest lost. This doesn’t make sense. There has to be a radical change and reforms with respect to aviation safety in the military .
