Only a braggadocious, cognitively impaired narcissist thinks this is an amazing achievement. He didn't get a perfect score, or even close. That's why he keeps talking about an idealized performance that only exists in his head. This narcissistic pathology is mental unfitness.

The Impossible Burger is red because of a protein brewed by a genetically engineered yeast. The label calls it soy leghemoglobin.
The patty reads water, soy protein concentrate, sunflower oil, coconut oil, then under 2% of natural flavors, methylcellulose, cultured dextrose, modified food starch, yeast extract, dextrose, soy leghemoglobin, salt, vitamin E, L-tryptophan and soy protein isolate, plus zinc and B vitamins.
Leghemoglobin is a protein in soybean roots. It carries heme, the iron molecule that makes blood red, and in Impossible's words heme is what makes meat taste like meat. Digging it out of soybean roots would take acres, so the company put the soybean gene into a yeast called Pichia pastoris and grows it in tanks, the way a brewery grows beer yeast. FDA had no questions on it as a food ingredient in 2018. In 2019 it listed it as a color additive too, because the red that turns brown when you cook the patty is the heme. It's capped at 0.8% of the patty.
Beyond Burger gets its red from beet juice and doesn't list heme at all. Both patties use methylcellulose as the binder, which is what keeps them in one piece on a grill. The coconut oil is the fat that melts and sizzles.

BREAKING
The BBC subpoenaed Jack Smith for a deposition to defend itself against Trump's defamation lawsuit.
Smith didn't object to the subpoena.
Team Trump opposes. buff.ly/cf6GaG2

ALT No one forced Plaintiff to file this lawsuit and to dispute that his speech on January 6 incited the violence that followed at the Capitol. But as long as he chooses to maintain the case, he cannot commit the fundamental injustice of preventing the BBC from obtaining the evidence it needs to robustly defend itself on every element of his claim, including Plaintiff’s burden to prove falsity.

Psychosis. He has built an environment around himself that keeps him insulated from reality testing. He has an obligation to Putin, so he creates an alternate reality where Putin is not a bad guy.
The president is compromised, corrupt, and literally demented.
Trump: "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much."

This past Valentine’s Day, 71-year-old Brad Reese, proud grandson of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups inventor H. B. Reese, posted a scathing open letter to the manager of corporate brand and editorial at Hershey, accusing the company of unforgivably altering many Reese’s products by replacing real chocolate with compound chocolate — basically using vegetable oils instead of cocoa butter to lower costs and replacing real peanut butter with “peanut-butter-style crèmes.”
“And Reese wasn’t alone in feeling like everything was getting worse,” writes Rachel Handler. “Everyone in my life I spoke to agreed that something was amiss, that Reese’s — and commercial chocolate in general — didn’t taste the way it used to.”
Handler would spend the next several months tumbling down a chocolate vortex, encountering dozens of eccentric characters, all disagreeing about the fundamental question of what chocolate even is and who it should be for.
“I learned that — not to sound like a LinkedIn guy — what’s going on with chocolate is a parable for the modern world. That at this particularly bleak end stage of capitalism, everything we once treasured has or will lose its essential essence and MrBeast will always be involved somehow.”
For our cover story, Handler takes a deep dive into the molten belly of the chocolate world. Read it in full: nymag.visitlink.me/vKKky_

Last month, Trump’s DHS asked its cyber division to try and a hack voting machines.
BUT:
-They directed them to NOT alert voting machine companies if flaws were discovered. Violating policy.
-Order to only report directly to White House.
That’s NOT typical at all!!
ProPublica: Trump Appointees Wanted a Voting Machine Hacked
A few months into President Donald Trump’s second term, political appointees at the Department of Homeland Security made an unusual request of its agency focused on cybersecurity: Secretly acquire a voting machine and hack it.
The appointees wanted the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to procure the machine, examine it and report back the findings so they could be given to the White House, according to two former administration officials with knowledge of the request.

“Not all counties were effected”
Yeah this is the **9th** error that has “backlogged” voter registration records, in mostly left-leaning districts.
Unsurprisingly State officials (who openly support Paxton) have not done anything to help clear the backlog.
Texas county officials said they learned Thursday about another state error that has backlogged thousands of voter registration records.
The total number of backlogged records wasn’t immediately available, but the secretary of state’s office told election officials that not all counties were impacted. bit.ly/4hQS7v6
Biden wanted to forgive student loans. Trump wants to hire collection agents. The man who brags about using bankruptcy multiple times wants to harass you with nondischargeable debt. Lovely.
The Trump admin is moving forward on plans to impose financial penalties on Americans in default on their federal student loans and hire private debt collectors to go after them.
The plans are unlikely to be announced until after the midterms. washingtonsun.com/economy/tr…

“In recent weeks, Weiss has personally advocated for CBS News journalists to pursue numerous story angles related to El-Sayed’s supposed sympathy towards the Muslim Brotherhood, and was directlyinvolved in a controversial story about his previous posts comparing the COVID-19 death toll to 9/11. She has discussed the topic on editorial calls, and tasked CBS News’ investigative unit with combing through El-Sayed’s background for a potential link to the organization. The network’s investigative team is set to publish a story in the coming days on the subject, though two people familiar with the reporting said that as of Sunday afternoon, it was unclear whether the story will include new revelations.”

Trump is clearly freaking out as both parties have universally condemned his decision to remove Lindsey Graham’s sanctions against Russian oligarchs. He’s now trying to argue it’s about some secret plan he has to end the war in Ukraine. You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe this guy’s lies at this point.
