This describes the conversation SpaceX has had when we have tried to rent inference compute from AWS, GCP or anyone at, so that we can shift load off our training clusters!!

Luddism 101. Take one of the most transformative innovations in human history, ignore the enormous benefits it has delivered, selectively identify its negative consequences, and declare that the people who opposed it were right about everything. By that standard, we should still be debating whether the printing press was a mistake. There's something remarkably arrogant about enjoying the fruits of human ingenuity while treating the ingenuity itself as a regrettable development. Civilization didn't advance because people surrendered to their fears of progress. It advanced because others refused to.

I wonder, Matt, do you use: A record player or Spotify? Encyclopedias or Google? Paper maps or Google Maps? A phone book or online directories? A newspaper or online news? A dictionary or online definitions? A fax machine or email? Postage stamps or instant messaging? A landline or internet calling? A VHS collection or Netflix? A television guide or online schedules? A radio broadcast or podcasts? A physical calendar or Google Calendar? A filing cabinet or cloud storage? A bank teller or online banking? A checkbook or electronic payments? A stockbroker or online investing? Newspaper classifieds or online marketplaces? A printed catalog or Amazon? An airline timetable or live flight tracking? A hotel brochure or online reviews? A weather almanac or live forecasts? An instruction manual or YouTube tutorials? A medical encyclopedia or online medical resources? A newspaper job listing or LinkedIn? A ticket booth or online ticketing? A newspaper archive or searchable digital archives? A translation dictionary or instant translation? A recipe book or millions of searchable recipes? A television network's permission or direct access to millions of viewers? And Matt, would you rather distribute your opinions through pamphlets on street corners or broadcast them instantly to millions through the very technology you're condemning? The internet has problems. So does every transformative technology. But declaring its critics right about literally everything while enjoying its extraordinary benefits is a spectacular exercise in taking progress for granted. You aren't demonstrating that the internet was a mistake. You're demonstrating how comfortable people can become with miracles they no longer recognize.

France has FREE health care, paid parental leave, paid family leave, FREE child care, FREE preschool, 5 weeks paid vacation, a 35 hour work week, generous unemployment and housing benefits, and heavily subsidized higher education. Everything the left says they want AND THEY'RE STILL PROTESTING AND BURNING SHIT DOWN.

Because trains don't drop you off and pick up you at your doorsteps, take you shopping, to get a cup of coffee, to the vet, doctor's appointment, or all the 99% of things humans do without a train.

He didn't say the overall amount either. As of now, it's $142 per share multiplied by 72 million kids = $10.5 billion. This is quite impressive considering that he doesn't owe you or anyone anything!

Your Tesla can now activate self-driving mode when youโ€™re driving manually if it detects youโ€™re about to crash, not paying attention, have fallen asleep, are having a medical emergency, etc. I would not want someone I love driving any other brand.
Thatโ€™s a nice over the air update. Thanks Tesla.

Personal excellence is the skeleton key for having an outsized positive impact on people's lives. This is the legacy of capitalism...not only does it drive innovation & inspire development, but it provides the opportunity to cut out corrupt government and give big, directly.

SpaceX is on track for 1.22โ€“1.44M GPUs, about 2.3โ€“2.7 GW of compute by end of year. A year ago, nobody could remotely imagine a rocket company would be one of the largest AI compute owners on Earth.

Itโ€™s about political control. When he was voting for their team, he was the second coming of Jesus. A liberal businessman who was doing things the right way. Then suddenly after Democrats started targeting him for being too successful, heโ€™s completely useless and itโ€™s just a lucky coincidence that all his companies are wildly successful. Certainly it doesnโ€™t have anything to do with him, it was probably thanks to Martin Eberhard or something. The reason their opinion flipped 180 is that they want to control you. They want their guys in charge. And if you ever started to doubt their plans for the country, or expressed that you wanted something different, they would do the exact same thing to you. If they were willing to set Americaโ€™s clean energy transition back for political power, theyโ€™ll destroy you without even blinking.
My lefty friend said this about Musk; "The guy writes cheques. About it. If he actually produced things himself I might have some sympathy but heโ€™s an entitled little goblin that is contributing nothing positive to the human experience." It's quite hard to reconcile that with any shared reality.

You're explicitly advocating parasitism through authoritarianism while calling the people whose wealth you want to confiscate parasites. You demand the fruits of their productivity, claim the authority to seize them, and celebrate their inability to escape your demands. It's an attempt to claim moral virtue through theft and discrimination, with the added irony of condemning as parasites the very people you intend to live off.
