After our flight one day, I approached the captain as we were getting off the plane.
Me: “Captain, can I ask you something?”
Captain: “Sure.”
Me: “How did we arrive almost an hour early?”
Captain: “We had a pretty good flight.”
Passenger: “No, seriously. Almost an hour.”
Captain: “Yeah.”
Passenger: “Do pilots have some kind of shortcut they don’t tell passengers about?”
The captain laughed.
Captain: “No.”
Me: “Because I’ve been thinking about it since you made that announcement.”
Captain: “What were you thinking?”
Me: “That maybe you looked at the route and thought, ‘Traffic is bad over here. Let’s go this way instead.’”
He laughed again.
Captain: “It’s not quite like that.”
Me: “Then how did we get here so early?”

Despite a massive response to the last @ofgem consultation about the energy standing charge it is being increased again by 6p a day from October. Apparently they are on the side of the consumer. WTF.

I am being harassed by @FedEx for payment of a 'late payment ' charge that is entirely due to their inefficiency. (Taking 6 weeks to respond to a query) Anyone know how to end this nonsense?
Instead of subsidising heat pumps by £7500 each, why not reduce the cost of electricity to say - cost plus 10% ?. This would lower inflation, encourage the uptake of heat pumps and limit the obscene profits of the energy generators.
