As a cyber security educator and researcher, I'm relieved that @Meta has embraced e2ee. This makes @Meta a late adopter of an otherwise ubiquitous security and privacy protocol, that is foundational to our communications infrastructure. It is disappointing that our legislators

don't grasp this basic concept. It is NOT Meta's sole responsibility to weaken these public protections in order to do the government's job.

When UKIP won 166 councillors (but no councils) in 2014 the BBC called this a "political earthquake". @TheGreenParty just gained 200 councillors, taking the total to 737, took control of a council & became the biggest party in several others. But 0 Green guests on #bbclaurak.

Odd how this occurred just before a coronation that lasted a few hours & cost £100 million. As a carer I know where £100 million would have been better spent. Cut care, crown a king it seems. @BBCNewsnight @JeremyVineOn5 theguardian.com/society/2023…

We’ve been speaking with @NUthmani @EISUnion on a picket line in Glasgow this morning as primary school teachers strike across Scotland in a pay dispute. She says “teachers’ pay has actually eroded by over 20% since 2008 when inflation was 3%”. #HeartNews

I'm all for #AnatoleFrance 's "vive la difference"...but we could learn a thing or two here. What is this cultural difference that makes us so meek and compliant, while a stone's throw over the Channel it'd be the guillotine?

The company connected to Tory Baroness Michelle Mone was prioritised for £205M of Govt Covid contracts. It delivered substandard PPE that had to be incinerated. Now it seems HMRC are shutting MedPro down for non-payment of taxes. Just another day in the UK.archive.ph/S5PKq

This is what people are having to do. To simply ask for fair pay. In Britain. In 2022. We shouldn't need to, but here we are... #GlasgowStrike #SupportTheStrikes
As strike negotiations continue with COSLA tonight, we've heard pupils across Glasgow have been organising not to cross the picket lines and are discussing what they can take to striking workers instead. The solidarity and camraderie is getting bigger and bigger!

If this was the other way round, you could bet there'd be some choice Sun and Daily Mail headlines!
EU concerned about UK pumping raw sewage into the sea. It affects them too - especially shared marine environment, fishing etc - and may breach the UK-EU deal where we agreed not to regress on environmental standards and become polluters.
Sadly, given the track record, I would have expected nothing less. It's the consistency that's truly remarkable.
I just can’t believe he’s telling us to buy a kettle and manages to fuck that up as well #BorisHasFailedBritain
