The WSIB calls closing 10 locations and cutting more than 700 jobs a “business decision.” We call it what it is: a crisis of the WSIB and the CEO's making.
No savings for Ontarians. Longer waits for injured workers. Bigger caseloads for the staff who remain. That’s the real cost of their "business decision.”
Ontario deserves better. WSIB workers deserve better. Our injured workers deserve better.

Mental health injuries are workplace injuries, too.
From police and first responders to transit workers, Ontarians facing psychological stress on the job deserve a system they can count on.
Yet 77% of chronic mental stress claims were denied through Dec. 2025.
OCEU will continue calling on WSIB to listen to workers, address barriers to accessing support and ensure the system is fair, accessible and consistent.

The WSIB says the road to recovery shouldn’t include a long drive. We couldn’t agree more – that's why closing 10 locations across Ontario doesn’t add up.
You can’t claim to be there for our communities while closing the door on them. That’s adding insult to injury.
