As a recovering people pleaser, I’m genuinely proud of myself every time I choose to say no to people.
I was in Grade 5 when my English teacher, Mrs Tlailane, told me, “You read so well. I get so excited when you read.” Even now, I can still hear those words ringing in my ears. They stayed with me long after I left her classroom.🥹
