Last Friday, @ThomasGaist excellently defended his PhD on the long-term cognitive and socioeconomic outcomes of Autoimmune Encephalitis. Important work for both patients, caregivers and society.
Thanks to @MGastaldi85 and Christian Stenør for a great discussion 🧠🧠

Our new study on @Brain1878 on atrophy patterns in IgLON5 disease led by the faboulous @SelinaYogeshwar
Yogeshwar et al. present clinical and MRI data from 127 patients with anti-IgLON5 disease. They show brain atrophy patterns that closely mirror sites of autoantibody binding and tau accumulation, with the location of atrophy linked to specific symptoms. tinyurl.com/3u4ufv2z

Congrats to Thomas on winning best oral presentation at the Danish Neurological Society annual meeting 🧠🧠🧠
Presenting nation-wide data on very long term outcomes in autoimmune encephalitis
Proud to see PhD student @ThomasGaist presenting our socioeconomic data on autoimmune and infectious encephalitis at the 2024 Encephalitis Conference 🧠🤓🧠
Happy to host @Mayo_AING, @carstenfinke and Frank Leypoldt for the first Danish masterclass in Autoimmune Encephalitis @OUHhospital @SyddanskUni @AfdelingN
Thanks for great talks and discussions

Happy birthday to renowned neuropsychologist Brenda Milner, who is celebrating her 106th birthday today! 🎈 🎁
While she may not count her age among her many achievements, in this video she did share a few thoughts (and a bit of folklore) about birthdays past and present.
Thanks to @cancer_dk for supporting our study on paraneoplastic neurological syndromes in Denmark.

Congrats - well done. Great for our work on Autoimmune Encephalitis 💪🏻
Feeling very honoured (and proud) to receive one of the Early-Career Clinician Scientist grants from @lundbeckfonden, for my project:

In this study, T2 and/or FLAIR hyperintensities confined to the temporal lobes, without diffusion restriction or contrast enhancement, robustly distinguished LGI1/CASPR2-Ab-E from key differential diagnoses. ja.ma/4dH3a5Z

Great collaboration on this paper confirming the performance of a risk score to differentiate autoimmune from viral encephalitis in the acute setting. Finally all the work on our national database starts to pay off 🧠🧪 🖥️ #encephalitis @OAERG1 link.springer.com/article/10…
Congratulations to Matias for a wonderful PhD defence on Autoimmune Encephalitis studied in human neurons. Special thanks to @michael_zandi, Thomas Harbo and Torben Barington for a great work on the examination
Happy to talk about the wonders of the adolescent brain at #ESPID2024 in Copenhagen

Anti-IgLON5 disease is a rare autoimmune encephalitis with late onset. Yogeshwar et al. present data suggesting a stronger association with HLA-DQ over HLA-DR, and showing autoimmune reactivity against IgLON5 in a post-translationally modified form. tinyurl.com/enamh8ws
Another wonderful encephalitis conference. Many great presentations, posters and friends. Lot of important work still needs to be done 🧠#Encephalitis2023
Today the first patients were included in the National Danish Autoimmune Encephalitis Study 👨🏻🔬🧑🏼🔬🧠🧠🧠 Kindly supported by the @novonordiskfond Thanks to the patients and caregivers🙌🏻
