When my daughter was 8 years old, her father and I separated. He remarried shortly afterwards and gradually stopped being involved in her life. I was left to raise her alone, but I wasn't completely alone. My older sister became my biggest support system. She helped with school fees, childcare and almost everything I struggled to provide. Whenever life became overwhelming, she was the person I could count on. Over the years, I worked hard to give my daughter a better life. I started saving small amounts of money for her future, even when it meant sacrificing some of my own needs. By the time she turned 18, I had saved enough to cover her university education and give her a good start in life. It wasn't money I could easily replace. It represented years of hard work and difficult choices. Then something happened that changed everything. My sister was involved in a serious accident and urgently needed surgery. The doctors explained that delaying the procedure could put her life at risk. Unfortunately, the money required was far beyond what I currently had.

Employer: Why were you absent from work yesterday? Employee: Sir, I informed my supervisor that I was sick. Employer: Being sick is not an excuse to abandon your responsibilities. We had an important meeting, and your absence affected the entire team. Employee: I understand, sir, but I could barely get out of bed. Employer: Do you think this company pays you to stay at home? Employee: No, sir. But I believe my health should matter too. Employer: There are hundreds of people waiting for your position. If you cannot handle the pressure, you can leave. Employee: I understand, sir. But can I ask you one question? Employer: Go ahead. Employee: If I collapse at my desk tomorrow because I ignored my health to satisfy this company, will you pay my hospital bills? Employer: That's not what we're discussing. Employee: Exactly, sir. When the company needs me, I'm expected to sacrifice everything. But when I need to take care of myself, suddenly I'm irresponsible.
