The things you wish were most removed from your life are often what God uses to shape you & make you into who he wants you to be. He wants to use that problem for good in your life. There’s something more important than your pain - what you’re learning from that pain. @RickWarren

A double rainbow appeared above Buckingham Palace after the Queen's death was announced.
I didn't realize that I needed some alone time with God until I chose to listen to Holy Roar @christomlin. Those songs bring so much joy and light to my soul.
Thank you @christomlin for leading me to praise God and dance.

My patience with mean or angry or judgmental folks increased greatly when a friend taught me to stop asking (in my mind) "What's WRONG with you?"
and start asking (in my mind) "What HAPPENED to you?"
What made you so angry or mean?
Hurt people hurt other people

During the #MalalaTownHall, @Malala's father, @ZiauddinY, shares some wisdom for all the fathers out there: let your daughters soar.

Jesus, be near the frightened, the suffering, the fleeing, the hiding, the shivering, the aching, the bleeding & dying on this globe tonight. Send word of your mercy reaching them as we pray for your outstretched arm to save. Rush to aid. Be swift to Shield. Be made known, Jesus.

This is going to sound all manner of trite but I could not mean it more. If you belong to Christ & have either jumped or been thrown out of a boat, you don’t have to drown. If you’ll trust in Jesus, he is either going to teach you to swim or summon you to walk with him on water.

Once a man was asked “What did you gain by regularly praying to God?”The man replied, “Little. But let me tell you what I lost: anger, ego, depression, insecurity, and fear of death.”
Sometimes the answer to our prayers is not gaining but losing.

I promise you based on the authority of Scripture & spotless character of the Judge, the Ancient of Days, before whom all will stand, these people who use piety & hyper fundamentalism to cloak their egregious crimes against children will face Him who is both Judge & eyewitness.

You can be honest, a bonafide truth-teller and still practice the discipline of self-control with words.
It is a legit discipline. Discipline.
Visualizing the echo of words well into the future is applied wisdom.

Feel bad about falling asleep while praying? How do you feel when a child nods off in your lap? And…how much more must your Heavenly Father feel about you when this happens?
There. I hope you feel better now. :-)

Last weekend I taught on the Beatitudes, the ethics of the kingdom of heaven. (When I was little I thought “beatitudes” meant they best be your attitude.) For the teaching, I took a shot at writing this world’s beatitudes. Imagine if Jesus thought this way. We want the real him.

Jesus.
Our resurrected joy, our Blessed Hope, the lifter of our heads, the strength of our bones, the blood in our veins. Our lighthouse when we’re storm-tossed & lost at sea. Our sun, moon & stars in the stubborn night & our sudden bright dawn at the break of an unexpected day.
