I still think on how crazily Lord of the Flies things got back in summer. Not every day I watch masses of people spontaneously pile in and call a descendant of Holocaust survivors a Nazi. I suppose if nothing else, it was good for my education to see just how fast that happens ☮️

#BurnFatNotFuel 🚴🇨🇦 Dear Premier Ford, @fordnation I know that, like many gentlemen our age, maintaining a healthy weight and good cardiovascular health becomes increasingly important as we get older. So may I suggest you leave our bicycle lanes in place and try using one? Cycling to work has enormous benefits: - For our health: Burns calories, strengthens our hearts, improves mental health and reduces the risk of chronic disease. - For our wallets: Saves money on gasoline, parking and vehicle maintenance. - For our communities: Reduces traffic congestion, air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and noise. - For taxpayers: Reduces road wear and can lower long-term healthcare costs. - For our cities: Makes streets more welcoming, supports local businesses and gives people more transportation choices. I'm a senior citizen myself, and I'd be delighted to ride to work with you. I'm very familiar with the route! Warm regards, Glen Murray #BurnFatNotFuel #BikeToWork #ActiveTransportation #HealthyCities #Ontario @fordnation

Why does John Tory take absolutely no shit for presiding over the period of Toronto's most-rapid decline? And why are so many people so convinced that electing his council lacky is going to improve the situation?

So the reason why it’s not good to support anarchic violence is because it typically doesn’t stop precisely where you like it. You can’t wink at people burning a city down or think it’s based and then cry foul if other people do violence to the rioters
This is worse than looting by a huge amount

For fuck’s sake. The looters in Paris aren’t starving.
You see, the greatest French writer in history, Victor Hugo wrote an entire novel about how looting to feed yourself and your family is not a crime or personal failing, but a fundamental flaw of a corrupt system that gives you no other choice

There are valid critiques of Olivia chow - I’ve made them myself ! But Brad Bradford would be a complete disaster for this city, conservatives would run every single part of the lives of Toronto residents

lol I'm watching CBC's coverage of the Alberta independence referendum and they got a guy who lived in Québec during the 1995 independence referendum and kept his anti-independence sign from then

Reminder to political leaders in Alberta, Albertans were always more concerned about these issues than independence. New polling from @abacusdataca out of Wednesday will signal a clear call to get back to work

200 MILLION on a Referendum by Smith & UCP ? Smith should resign tonight, putting the people through this to see results we knew. Alberta are Proud CANADIANS & refuse to leave CANADA 🇨🇦 200 MILLION could have been for Healthcare or Education not an election for her Ego & Power.

Despite intense efforts by both the Trump administration and years of Russian influence operations, the Canadian province of Alberta has voted not to secede from Canada.

Even if 1 in 4 Albertans who voted wanted to start a process, only a third who did explicitly did so because they want an independent Alberta.

Alberta separatists spent months telling Canada they spoke for Albertans. Then Albertans spoke. 76% voted to stay in Canada. The separatists couldn’t even get a quarter of the vote for another referendum. Turns out a few thousand angry guys with flags and Facebook accounts aren’t quite the national liberation movement they imagined. And they’re already promising to keep fighting. Apparently listening to Albertans was never part of the plan.

Please give our legislators some real teeth in dealing with propaganda and foreign interference. We need to stop these money and energy wasting vampires in their tracks now. We must learn from the US example of how large of an issue this has become in our society.

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and his fiancé, Argentine field hockey player Nicolás Keenan, announced they are expecting their first child in spring 2027 through a surrogate. Jetten, 39, is the country’s youngest and first openly gay prime minister, and it is the first time a postwar Dutch prime minister will have a child while in office.
