In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Jonas Vaiškūnas's book 'Reading the Signs of the Sky' (2012) sought to reconstruct the Lithuanian zodiac, mentioned in the Chronicle of Rivius as important to the Lithuanian state cult of Perkūnas; each step of the Vilnius temple's altar honoured a different sign of the zodiac
BALTIC ZODIAC – the most astonishing thing brought back from forgotten history!⌛️
So, how was it discovered?
After WWII a huge 10-liter ritual ladle was found in the basement of Grodno Church (now kept in Raubičiai Museum). But only after the Christian drawings were scraped off (when it was being prepared for reconstruction) did the 12 unknown signs suddenly come to life!
Ethnoastronomer J. Vaiškūnas decoded them, piecing together bits and pieces scattered across ancient folklore, myths, and documents.
Here they are in order (with Western counterparts):
♓️ Abstract broken line (sideways V with arrow – possibly lightning striking water) = Pisces
♈️ Shaggy fur skin/coats spread out with horns on top = Aries
♉️ Horse rider (Pleiades as head/ears, signals spring) = Taurus
♊️ Two warriors = Gemini
♋️ Bird on world tree (moon-linked) = Cancer
♌️ Bird on world tree (sun-associated, highest Sun) = Leo
♍️ Crane / stork (signals autumn sowing & migration) = Virgo
♎️ Two Suns (upper with straight rays, lower bent) = Libra
♏️ Large elk + small fawn with two Suns = Scorpio
♐️ Warrior with spear, Sun shining on bent limb = Sagittarius
♑️ Goat with Sun above its back = Capricorn (Ožiaragis)
♒️ Riderless galloping horse (tail fluttering, Sun on back, open mouth like crescent) = Aquarius
I mean… wow!!! Only two match the classic zodiac exactly – the rest are pure pagan
