For the new Truth Hurts, I spoke to Dâm-Funk about playing keyboards on Westside Connection's "Let It Rain," collaborating with Snoop on 7 Days of Funk, his vision for modern funk, the influence of Prince and Junie Morrison, the origins of the Funkmosphere parties, funk's re-emergence in contemporary pop, and why staying true to the music has always mattered more to him than chasing fame.
One of my favorite episodes we've done.

This #Juneteenth, we honor the profound legacy, resilience, and unyielding spirit of African-Americans who built the foundation of this nation.
Prince always reminded us that human rights and creative independence walk hand-in-hand. From fighting for systemic justice to reclaiming his own masters, his life was a masterclass in emancipation. Today, we celebrate the power of breaking chains, both in society and in art. Let freedom ring in the music and in our hearts. 💜

"I became interested in the history of musical lament practices. Not only the ancient traditions that are widely known through tragedy, but also the contemporary pop forms that I engage in as well," @NiteJewel tells @NPRWeekend

October 7th, 1986 @PRINCE disbanded the Revolution over dinner with Lisa & Wendy & then calling Bobby Z. over the phone. Brownmark didn't stay but Matt Fink & a member of the extended Revolution Miko Weaver stayed on.
From what I remember, there was no formal announcement at the time but 10 days later on MTV & other media outlets.
What are some of your favorite Revolution moments? 💜
